Small Functions for Writing HTML Files
Hello All,
I wrote this small set of functions for writing HTML files on the fly so I
could do reports from R. Nothing fancy. I may expand on this and make it
more generic, but for now, it works and I'm happy with it.
Thought I would share them with everyone to get some feedback. Also, I'm
not sure if there is already something like this available.
The html-test.r file shows you

Using package "exams" and xtable
Hello,
I am trying to use the package "exams" to construct problem sets.
I have constructed an exercise which generates a list of integers and asks
the student to compute the median.
rx is the vector of n numbers
>str(rx)
num [1:16] 21 9 8 18 4 12 17 2 9 7 ...
I want to print out the entire vector as part of the problem.
When I use \Sexpr(rx) only the first value (in this case

Xtable giving an interesting problem
I'm using the current version of xtable for 1.9.0 and I have an

In addition: Warning message:

xtable with psych objects
Hello:
I s there a way to use xtable with objects from the psych package, particularly principal()?
Is there a difference between princomp and principal? xtable seems to play better with princomp.
Thank you.

xtable prcomp
Hi, I need to export to LaTex the summary of a PCA. So:
myPCA <- prcomp(myDF)
mySummary <- summary(myPCA)
#
print(xtable(mySummary))
How can I export to LaTeX not all the summary but only the first nPCs??

Printing an xtable with type = html
I have been playing around with producing tables using xtable and the
type = "html" argument when printing. For example, if xtbl is the output
of a dataframe which has been run through xtable, using the command:
print(xtbl, type = "html",
html.table.attributes = "border = '1', align = 'center'")

Creating a correlation matrix with significance levels

formatting tables with long column names via package:xtable within Sweave
Hi,
I use the excellent Sweave tools for writing documents
but was wondering how to neatly print a data.frame
with long column headings.
I cant manage to do this via package:xtable.
Typically the labels that I would like use
for each column consist of more than one word,
but even with just one word,
the heading is often wider than the contents of the column.
So the number of columns that fits

defmacro and bwplot incompatibilities?
My macro doesn't work for bwplot. But is working elsewhere.
What changes should i make to fix my macro.
Thanks.
The complete code sample is:
library(gtools)
library(lattice)
pic <- defmacro(fn, plotfunc, expr={png(filename=fn); plotfunc; dev.off()})
# this one fails.
pic("bw.png", {bwplot(Species ~ Sepal.Length, data=iris)})
# this one works

xtable and column headings
When I generate a LaTeX table using xtable I have been setting column names
to strings with LaTeX code in order to get features like subscripts in the
column headings. I recently had to reinstall xtable and discovered that all
my LaTeX column headings were printing out in LaTeX code rather than with
LaTeX formatting. For example, with the older xtable I could give my column
a name something like

xtable feature addition suggestion
Hi, attached follows a patch to add a feature that I think it would be useful having in the print.xtable function of the xtable package. It adds the option 'tabular.environment' to that function, which could be used to set an alternative tabular environment, as the name already suggests.
This is particulary useful when dealing with long tables, which do not fit in a single page. In the

.S3methods: issue in content of info data.frame
Hi,
I was trying to get a list of S3 method for a given generic, along with the
package in which they are defined, and I came across what looks like an
issue in the data.frame returned in attribute 'info'. The column 'from'
mostly gets the value "registered S3method for ..." except for visible
methods. Is this the expected behavior?
See code and output below.
Thank you.

vertical line in xtable
Hi everyone
I have created a function that uses xtable to print table of frequencies and
percentages with a heading and some sample information (the sample size and
missing values). The function and example data is below.
I want a vertical line that separates the results from the sample
information i.e. a vertical line on the bottom of the line second from last

print only first level directory name when copying files
Hello,
I am copying /mnt/foo to /mnt/bar/
rsync --info=name1,del2 -rl /mnt/foo /mnt/bar/
/mnt/foo contains deep directory structure, ie:
/mnt/foo/aaa/
/mnt/foo/aaa/somestuff/
/mnt/foo/aaa/somestuff/file1
/mnt/foo/bbb/
/mnt/foo/bbb/someotherstuff/
/mnt/foo/bbb/someotherstuff/file2
I am not interested in details which individual files were copied, just
the main directory.

Non-visible functions are asterisked
Dear R-Helpers,
I suspect I'm about to ask a FAQ, but I haven't been able to find an
answer in the FAQ, AItR or an R Site Search. When I look at the methods
of summary (below) it says, "Non-visible functions are asterisked". I
looked at the help file for summary.princomp, which did not comment on
it being non-visible. I ran its help file example, which printed visible
output. I
