Installing a Package in Windows 2000
I'm using R 1.4.1 under Windows 2000 and am experiencing difficulty
installing a package. I've included an example output using Rcmd build,
but the same problem occurs with Rcmd check and Rcmd INSTALL. The error
(make[1]: /bin/sh.exe: Command not found) is not a new one - it's
referenced in readme.packages among other locations. I've placed a copy
of sh.exe in C:\bin, but it

Build R-patched from Source
Hi,
If I want to build R-patched from source (on Windows), do I need to edit
Makefile and/or MkRules at all?
I have followed all instructions in the INSTALL file (under
R-patched/src/gnuwin32/), as well as downloaded all the files from
http://www.stats.ox.ac.uk/pub/Rtools/ . My PATH variable has been
modified accordingly.
Now, with the only change to MkRules I made was to modify the Tcl/Tk

small error in regression tests
I just r-sync'ed the r-devel version of R-1.7.0 (2003-03-11), compiled it
under RH-8.0 and ran make check. The reg-tests-2 fails at the very end
with the message stating that "object cement was not found". It looks like
this piece of the regression test is new to version 1.7. The the piece of
code generating the error is:

can't get rcmd to work on windows2k....
I'm trying to make sure my R package will install properly (build help
files, etc) and when I try to run the rcmd check (or any rcmd option) I get
the following error. Does dcf.pm stand for perl module? If not, why do I get
this message?

I am trying to build a package. The functions are written only in R (no C code). I am trying to proceed as described in R-exts.pdf
But instead to get a build package i am getting (see below). At first glance it seems to me that i understand the output. At something similar i am looking most of my

checking package dependencies
Dear all,
I seem to be unable to check a source package since I upgraded R to 2.3.0
(Ubuntu Linux 5.1). I get this:
* checking package dependencies ... ERROR
> tools:::.check_package_depends("/home/adi/Work/QCAGUI")
I have even tried with R-patched, same result.
My Renviron does specify the path to the installed packages (and all depending
packages are installed):

Building own packages on Windows 2000!
Hi!
I encountered some things trying to build own packages under Windows
2000 for which i found no answer in the documentation.
First.
1. I do not found the rcmd.exe in the bin directory of R_HOME.
I installed R using the setup.exe
2. I updated the R intatllation with one of the zip files. (rw1041sp.zip)
now i had the rcmd.exe in the bin.
3. I do not found any hint in the docu that perl is

Need help decyphering 'make check' errors
I haven't been able to find any documentation explaining what these
errors mean (and if they're serious). If anyone can give me some
guidance on this, I'd very much appreciate it.
The error messages are

Is this a bug of pweibull()? (Follow up)
Please allow me to add just a little more about this:
nothing wrong with pweibull(), namely, the two cases I reported:
pweibull(3:10, 2) and pweibull(3:10, 2.1),
in rw1041 and earlier version.
I wonder this might just due to the change from rw1041 to rw1050,
however, I can't find anything relevant (seems to me) in the News
or Readme.
Thanks Sundar for the suggestion of using 1 -

building packages on windows
Has anyone had success building a package on a windows machine?
I am trying the following command with no luck (perhaps my flags are
incorrect?). At this point I am stuck. Any help greatly appreciated.

directory that is specified in a path statement)

Environment variables under Windows
Greetings,
I have a question pertaining to the concept of "environment variables"
that is mentioned in the R documentation for "Startup" and also in the
discussion of the Windows configuration of R in the recent book "An
Introduction to R" authored by Venables, Smith, and the R Development Core
Team (referred to as VS in this message).
The Startup documentation and

compiling packages
Hello, happy new year to all.
The new Year gave me a new computer with Win98 and promptly I installed
R on it.
I created a directory R, with subdirectories gcc, perl, bin, helpwrk and
rw1040.
I got rw1040 from BDR place, the rest were gotter from the internet in
the last week of the year, i.e. they are the newest versions.
I modified autoexec.bat to put gcc\bin, perl\bin, etc in the path. I put
