show messages during a long process
Hi, I have a function which takes some time to execute (20 sec.) and I want to show the progress of the execution with simple messages such as "10% done", "20% done", ... (with a simple "cat" function). The problem is that all the messages appear together when the execution of the function is over. How can I show each message at their corresponding time? Thanks,

problems with rexp ?
Does anyone know if R have any problems with the exponential random number generation (function rexp)? I comment it because I executed data<-sort(rexp(100)) plot(data,dexp(data)/(1-pexp(data)),type="l") and the graphic isn't constant. (Note: exponential distribution have a constant hazard failure rate). Thank you, Juan

Acces violation ???
Dear R-listers, I have created a "dll" and I call it from a R function. However R stops and shows the message: "Unhandled exception in Rgui.exe (R.DLL): 0xC0000005: Access Violation" I get this error in other situations and I solved it verifying that all parameters are called fine. (e.g., double precision -> as.double, integer -> as.integer,...). I have verify this.

DLL for calling Fortran subroutines
Hi everybody, I'm trying to use fortran subroutines in a R function. I've generated a DLL file using my fortran subroutines, and I've got a DLL which includes an export table with the names of my subroutines. Then, I use the R command library(test), where test is a directory located in the R library tree and which contains a R directory (with my R functions) and a libs directory (with

Using dll with Visual Studio Compiler
Hi, I have created a dll in Fortran and used the Visual Studio 2005 Compiler. I've read that certain problems can arise based on the compiler used and that these problems can sometimes cause R not to be able to access everything appropriately, but I've not found how to fix any of these problems. Specifically, after using dyn.load, I know the dll has been loaded because it is listed in

Linking to html help from outside R
Dear R-help-ers (Currently running Version 0.65.1 Release (October 07, 1999) on Solaris 2.6) My problem has to do with updates of the R language. When I install a new version, I would like to just change one directive, or a soft link to the current doc/html/ directory, to update a bookmark I have pointing to the current R doumentation directory. I've tried building a soft link:

R, Wine, and multi-threadedness.
Hi, I managed to install Win32 R 2.2.0 with the CRAN Innosetup installer under Wine on x86 linux a few days ago. However, on trying to run it, MSVCP60.DLL is missing. So here is a sort of a bug report, and a couple of questions: (1) I think the R binary in the CRAN Innosetup installer was built with mingw. The R-windows FAQ did mention that this DLL is required *for Chinese/Japanese/Korean*

Calling Fortran from R: Issues with dynamic loading of fortran dll
I successfully used .Fortran to load and execute my fortran procedures under WinXP and 32 bit R. Alas, the same isn't true with my next Windows 7/64 machine, R 2.14.1 (64 bit) and the gnu gfortran (64) compiler (mingw64 v. 4.6.1). Though I'm able to compile the routines from the command line using gfortran '...', .Fortran('foo2') results in an error saying the Fortran

Slow printing in batch?
For doumentation purposes I run a batch R program that does reshaping etc. of data and finally prints things. When I paste the code into an R-window everything runs in a few seconds, but in Batch mode i get in the output file the result below. Any clues why R uses 4 min to print a 1129\times 6 dataframe in batch mode? The scrit I use to run R is: c:\stat\r\%R_VERS%\bin\Rterm --no-restore

Fortran level mismatch between package and R
We have a user here who is attempting to compile a package which requires f90 (gfortran will do). Our version of R was built with f77 (g77). When the user attempts to build the package, f77 is always invoked and fails due to the presence of f90 features. Is there a simple method or some documentation on how to force a package build to use a different compiler than the one used in
