Inserting Date Field into Oracle table using ROracle
Hello,
Attached is a mail regarding question how to insert Date field using ROracle
package. I am stuck with this problem and appreciate receiving help from
gurus on this list.
Code used mainly is:
library(ROracle) ### --- Version 0.53
drv <- dbDriver("Oracle")
con <- dbConnect( drv, "user/passwd")
d <- data.frame(CDATE = "2004-03-10 10:12:00")

Line plot with date-time on X-axis
Dear List,
What is the way in R to plot a graph having date time (e.g. format
12/31/2002 13:12) in the
x axis and numerical value (e.g. temperature) on the Y-axis ?
I could not get 'plot()' to do this as X axis values are non-numeric.
'bwplot()' sorts the date
values and thereby changes the order of the dates and of Y. The date/time
values have to be
shown on the X-axis as tick

RMySQL performance over RODBC
R-help list,
I ported some R code from MS Windows PC to sun-solaris. Both do queries on
the same
MySQL database.
PC version of R is 1.6.1 and solaris version is 1.6.0. I use RMySQL_0.5-0
(on solaris)
and RODBC 1.0-1 on PC to connect to MySQL. The PC version took about 65
mins. to run
wheras the Solaris (SunOS 5.7) version took 375 mins. (> 6 hrs). R and
RMySQL are
resident on the same host

Enright/Chi-square periodogram / periodicity
I am trying to compute the periodicity of a time series.
I would like to know which function in R does it.
Also, how do I plot a Enright / Chi-square periodogram using R ?
( Enright, J.T., 1965, Journal of Theoret. Biol. 8,426-468)
Greatly appreciate your help.
Thanks in advance,

Help with RODBC connection to multiple MS SQL Sever databases
I'm trying to pull data from multiple MS SQL Sever databse in R. I can access the databases one at a time, but the tables are to large to pull the entire tables then join then in R. So I need to do a SQL join that will join the tables from the each of the databases. How do I combine the connection so that I can implement it in my sql query below. I'm currently getting the following error:

rodbc windows doesn't find dsn
Under WinXP, I have a system DSN called foo. It has stored
username/password information. (I can click Configure in ODBC
Administrator and then Test Data Source connects to MySQL without me
re-entering data.)
Using RODBC, I can connect to the same database. But when I do
odbcConnect("foo"), I get a window that requires me to re-enter
username/password information. It seems like

Query about RODBC to access MySQL from Windows
Hi
I am trying to use RODBC in R installed on Windows to
access MySQL database (on a linux box).
I set up a DSN and specified this DSN in R as follows
library(RODBC);
channel <- odbcConnect("mysqldsn");
RODB Connection 5
Details:
case=nochange
PORT=3306
........
Although this seems to connect properly, running any
command yields NO results.
i.e. sqlQuery(channel, "show

RODBC problems
Hello,
I successfully used RODBC very frequently, but after having updatetd to R 6.0.2, the
current RODBC-Version gives me some problems.
After connecting to my Oracle-Database via odbcConnect("") (or the necessary
information) I receive a much longer output than usual:
RODB Connection 0
Details:
case=nochange
DRIVER={Oracle in OraHome90}
...
with all the details.

RODBC with Windows XP
Hi R-Users,
I have very recently switched from using R on windows 2000 to windows XP
Professional. With XP I am having problems
using the "odbcConnect("")" command. I can use the command perfectly well
until I close the database channel
with the command "odbcClose(channel)". When I try and re-establish
connection following the close command no dialog box appears

data format of x in x <- sqlQuery()
All
When I read data into an R variable x using RODBC command:
x <- sqlQuery(channel,"select a, b from tabl",as="data frame")
and view x, I get 3 columns the first one being the index of
the rows in x.
What options do I use in sqlQuery so as not have the index in x ?
How do I get rid of the index otherwise.

RODBC Connections closed automatically in background
I am having a problem with RODBC's connections. It appears that
my connection to the database is closed by R automatically before
I am done with it.
Here is my code:

S/R/RWeb/ODBC
I'm looking for an optimal approach to access Oracle databases via RWeb
applications. I'm new to R but familiar with programming functions and web
pages for the S+ Statserver. I'm now going through the motions of migrating
S+/Statserver applications to R/RWeb as a feasability exercise. I can access
databases using ODBC directly in R or S, and using Statserver, but I have
not succeeded

2 (related) problems with RODBC in 64 bit Windows
Hi all,
I am encountering an RODBC problem in R 2.15.1 in windows 64 bit which I do not encountered in the same set up in windows 32 bit (the latest binary version of RODBC in both cases from the same depository gotten by install.packages(‘RODBC’), Oracle ODBC client software installed in 64 and 32 bit respectively)

RODBC for 64-bit R with 32-bit Access
Hello Folks,
I do hope this is the correct place to post (and not in R-SIG-DB). I have
spent the better part of a day searching for an answer to this question, and
have yet to resolve it.
I am trying to query an .accdb Access database (with 32-bit Office 2007
currently residing on the machine) with 64-bit R via RODBC. There seem to
be some conflicting accounts as to whether or not this is

RODBC, freetds, and MS SQL Server
I have a question for RODBC users out there. I have used the package with
good results for some time. However, I have just switched from an OpenLink
proprietary driver for MS SQL to the FreeTDS driver (I think it is MS SQL
Server 2000 I'm connecting to if it matters). I was/am running them from
unixODBC on a Linux Client. I think I have it set up fine since I can use
"isql"

RODBC for importing dbf
Hi
I know that it is very easy to import data from a dbf file to R, by
saving the data as csv, for instance.
However, I have several hundreds of files to do that. So, I thought of
using RODBC to read the dbf files and save it as data.frame. However, I
cannot even start (this is my first time using such package):
> library(RODBC)
> bdades <- odbcConnect("prova.DBF")
