Buggy trellis.focus() with xyplot ?
Hi: (Tried to find a bug report about this issue, but was unable to find it, let me know if this is a known issue) I have been working on an interface to highlight xyplot panels on mouse overs in JavaGD but I have stumbled with what seems to be a bug in trellis.focus. I am using R 2.8 with lattice 0.17-15 *** To replicate the bug: 1.- display an xyplot. For example, from the xyplot help page:

Plotting second axes outside xyplot
Hi all, I'm trying to find a way to get xyplot to produce a second set of axes outside the right hand side of the graph. This is my progress so far: EE <- equal.count(ethanol$E, number=9, overlap=1/4) xyplot(NOx ~ C | EE, data = ethanol, prepanel = function(x, y) prepanel.loess(x, y, span = 1), xlab = "Compression Ratio", ylab = "NOx (micrograms/J)",

trellis graph question
R2.2, WinXP: I am using xyplot( ) to generate time plots of plasma concentration data. The following is an edited version of my code: xyplot(log.conc ~ time| group, data = foo, groups = subject, panel = function(x, y, panel.number, ...) { panel.superpose(x, y, subscripts = TRUE, groups = foo$group, type = 'l', col

Xyplot or Tin-R problem?
I ran the following script from xyplot Examples using Tin-R on Windows and saw no plot produced. EE <- equal.count(ethanol$E, number=9, overlap=1/4) xyplot(NOx ~ C | EE, data=ethanol, prepanel = function(x,y) prepanel.loess(x, y, span=1), xlab="Compression Ratio", ylab="NOx (micrograms/J)", panel = function(x,y) { panel.grid()(h = -1, v=2)

User defined panel functions in lattice
Hi I have a problem with passing line and symbol parameters to user defined panel functions I had a look at the archives and created a panel function on what was shown and on panel.loess. I could not to get panel.locfit to work for what I intend it for. There is another layer to work with before success as lp() is called from locfit. xx <- structure(list(Farm = c("A",

learning about panel functions in lattice
Hi All, I am trying to understand panel functions. Let's use this example. library(lattice) time<-c(rep(1:10,5)) y <-time+rnorm(50,5,2) group<-c(rep('A',30),rep('B',20)) subject<-c(rep('a',10),rep('b',10),rep('c',10),rep('d',10),rep('e',10)) myData <-data.frame(subject,group,time,y) head(myData) Plot 1 xyplot(y ~ time

Problem using with panel.average in Lattice package
Hi, I'm having a problem getting the panel.average function to work as I expect it to in a lattice plot. I wish to draw lines between the averages of groups of y-values at specific x-values. I have created a dataset below which is similar to my real data. I also show an example of using panel.loess in place of panel.average; it performs in a manner similar to what I want panel.average to do

control span in panel.loess in xyplot
Dear R gurus.. Is it possible to control span settings for different values of a grouping variable, when using xyplot? an example code shown below d=data.frame(x=rep(sample(1:5,rep=F),10),y=rnorm(50),z=rep(sample(LETTERS[1:2],rep=F),25)) xyplot(y~x,data=d,groups=z,panel=panel.superpose,panel.groups=panel.loess(span=c(2/3, 3/4,1/2)) or something like..

Fwd: User defined panel functions in lattice
Hi ilai Thank you for your suggestions. I do not know what happened yesterday I must have omitted a few changes out in going from R to email and apologies for the double posting - I had troubles sending it as my ISP gave a message of not being connected for email but was for the web I was trying to get panel.Locfit to work in a number of situations. 1. xyplot for longitudinal data
Dear R-help subscribers, I use xyplot to plot longitudinal data as follows: score<-runif(100,-4,5) group<-sample(1:4,100,rep=T) subject<-rep(1:25,4) age<-rep(runif(4,1,40),25) df<-data.frame(score,group,age,subject) xyplot(score~age|group, group=subject, panel=function(...){ panel.loess(...,lwd=4) panel.superpose(...)} ,data=df) this produced a plot with four panels one for each

lattice background grid
Hi, I wonder if anyone knows how to control color and darkness of the background grid generated by ' type = c("g", "p") ' in a lattice plot (e.g., in xyplot). The documentation does not seem to offer a way to change them. Thanks a lot! Wen

lattice::xyplot() with one factor for points and another for lines
Hi: In lattice, how does one handle separate graphical behavior for two different factors? In the xyplot below, the objective is to use the levels of one factor to distinguish corresponding shapes and colors, and the levels of the other factor to perform level-wise loess smooths. # Illustrative data: d <- data.frame(time = rep(1:8, each = 6), val = rnorm(48), gp1 =

loess() crashes R on my system
Greetings and happy new year! I am in the process of converting some of the old S-PLUS scripts from Visualizing Data (Cleveland, 1993) into lattice. In fact, I did most of it several years ago, and at the time, all of the scripts that contained loess() worked fine. Tonight, I ran most of the scripts again, but every one that I tried with a loess() call crashed R. I tried it in two sessions, one

lattice library: xyplot and polygons
Dear R-Helpers, Is there a way to draw shaded (filled) polygons in panel graphs produced by xyplot ? I made different trials (see below) with polygon() and grid.polygon() but polygons are not drawn (probably for the same reason that prevents the use of lines, points, etc. in xyplot panels). Thanks in advance, Renaud > Water id label longitude latitude 515 21 Zone inondable

loess lines in xyplot with two or more variables on the left side of a formula
Hello: I recall something like this being discuss recently, but I can't seem to locate an example in the archives. I have data like the following: df <- expand.grid(1:4, 1992:2002) names(df) <- c("MSA", "YEAR") df$IDUPREV <- runif(44) df$VALIDAT <- rnorm(44) I want to create an xyplot() with separate loess lines for each series (IDUPREV and VALIDAT) in

predicting from a local regression and plotting in lattice
Hi R community, I'm running R 2.7.2 on Windows XP SP2. I'm trying to (1) plot loess lines for each of my groupings using the same color for each group; (2) plot loess predicted values. The first part is easy: data1 <- data.frame(Names=c(rep("Jon",9),rep("Karl",9)),Measurements=c(2,4,16,25,36,49,64,81,100,1,2,5,12,17,21,45,54,67),PlotAt=c(1:9,1:9)) data2 <-
