php-markdown-extra-extended - my humble attempt at extending php-markdown
Dear all,
I have used Markdown via Drupal a few months now, with a customer site
and my currently my own blog and based on that practical experience I
wanted to add some extra functionality to PHP Markdown Extra, so out
of this grow my (extended) weekend project

The big missing item right now that I would like to implement is the
ability to add

nesting in CoxPH with survival package
Hello all,
I am trying to understand how to specify nested factors when using
coxph(), and if it is appropriate to nest these factors in my
situation.
In the simplest form, I am testing two different temperatures, with
each temperature being performed twice in different experimental
periods (e.g. Temp5 performed in Period A and C, Temp4 performed in
Period B and D)
I am trying to see if survival

Compilation error on mgcv_1.1-7 on OS X (10.3)
Greetings
I run into a compilation error when updating to mgcv_1.1-7 in R 2.0.0 on
OS X 10.3. Note that other pacakges have compiled nicely.
Some details are given below, but in short it looks like it's seeking for
/usr/local/lib/powerpc-apple-darwin6.8/3.4.2/
which I don't have. But I do have
/usr/lib/gcc/darwin/3.3
i.e a lower version of GCC in a different directory. More

Corrupt files after Samba-upgrade
HI,
I have just upgraded my Samba-servers to 2.0.5a. After this upgrade several
users have problems with corrupted files, the files are Word- and
Excel-files. Others experiencing this? I am running on HP-UX 10.2.

DLL not found
I am testing a Norwegian financial and invoicing software with Wine 1.3.
The app is called "Matrix ?konomi" (www.matrix.no)
Most things seems to work fine, but PDF export is not working. The app says ".dll not found".
I have checked with the publisher and they say that the DLL that they use for generating PDF's is called "DPDF_Gen.dll".
I have confirmed that

Writing a breakable loop? If it gets a match it should stop.
I''m trying to write a function that will accept a rails URL, and see if
it matches one of my Rights. Rights are just controller URLs, so I can
manage access at the controller level (don''t need action level). What
I''m trying to do is take the url passed, and see if its access
controlled. If it is, the method should stop and return true, if not it
will return false. This

scale factors/overdispersion in GLM: possible bug?
I've been poking around with GLMs (on which I am *not* an expert) on
behalf of a student, particularly binomial (standard logit link) nested
models with overdispersion.
I have one possible bug to report (but I'm not confident enough to be
*sure* it's a bug); one comment on the general inconsistency that seems to
afflict the various functions for dealing with overdispersion in GLMs

How do I pass form values from POST controller specs?
Hi there
I just started my first Merb app and I''m running into some weird
things in Specs. When I do:
describe "create action" do
it "should create a new project" do
project_params = {:name => ''bekkunin''}
Project.should_receive(:create).with(project_params)
controller, action = post(''/projects'', :project

Fill out skeleton specs
Geoff, you''ve committed specs for form helper methods. I''ve recently looked
at some of those but unfortunately not spec''ed them. Would it be alright for
you if I flesh out some of your specs related to forms?
Ezra, would you prefer to have any edits as tickets, or checked in?
All the best

multiple ingresses
Is it possible to have multiple filters around an ingress so that you
can police your downloads more specific. What I''m trying to achieve is
to have all my ftp-traffic limited to 1024kbit on downloads. I included
some commands below so that you might better understand my thoughts on
the matter.
tc qdisc add dev eth0 root handle 1: htb default 2
tc class add dev eth0 parent 1: classid 1:1

Strange entry inthe log when using encrypted passwords
Hello,
I want to set up my Samba-servers to use encrypted passwords (smbpasswd).
First I enabled "Update Encrypted" to set the correct password and then I
disabled "Update encrypted" and enabled "encrypted passwords".
When I map up a share from the client everything is working ok, but in the
log I have the following:
[1999/11/09 21:37:10, 1] smbd/password.c:(532)

Incorrect shell quotation in scp
Hi,
as the current debian maintainer of the openssh package is a bit busy,
I'm helping him with fixing a part of the bugs in openssh that debian
users found will forward some of the reports to you. This is the first
one and a fix or a comment why this should not be fixed would be
appropriated. Thanks

Problem using GLM in a loop
Hello,
I am try to perform a modeling which is relevant in a strongly
heteroscedastic context.
So I perform a dual modeling (modeling of both mean and variance of a
response) in using the following loop:
jointmod <- function(formula, data, itercrit=10,devcrit=0.0001)
{
#
# Init step
#
init <- glm(formula=formula,family=gaussian, data=data)

negative binomial lmer
To whom it may concern:
I have a question about how to appropriately conduct an lmer analysis for negative binomially distributed data. I am using R 2.2.1 on a windows machine.
I am trying to conduct an analysis using lmer (for non-normally distributed data and both random and fixed effects) for negative binomially distributed data. To do this, I have been using maximum likelihood,

nonlinear regression-getting the explained variation
Hi,
I'm trying to teach myself R, and by the way, re-learning statistics using
Crawley's "Statistics: an introduction using R".
I've reached the regression chapter, and when it deals with non-linear
regresion using the nls library I face the following problem:
I follow the steps---

library for mixed GLM?
Dear all,
I am taking a course in GLM given by a devoted SAS user. He has given us a
homework where a mixed GLM with a logistic link and binomially distributed
observations should be fitted.
I know of the library nlme for mixed effect models but as I understand it,
one cannot choose between different links and distributions in the
functions provided there.
I have so far managed very well with

glmm for binomial data? (OT)
A while ago (April 2002) there was a short thread on software for generalized
linear mixed models.
Since that time, has anyone written or found R code to use a glmm to analyze
binomial data? I study CWD in white-tailed deer, and I'd like to do a
similar analysis as Kleinschmidt et al. (2001, Am. J. Epidemiology 153:
1213-1221) used to assess control for spatial structure in malaria
