Two questions
Greetings, I have two questions that I could not answer from the documentation. A - ecdf and confidence intervals : Is there a (simple) way to generate confidence intervals (95%) for a ecdf? B - cross-validation of rpart trees : a colleague is using S to generate decision tree and mentioned to me the use of cross-validation. Is this function enabled in R ? if so, how should one proceed to

plot question
Hi! I want to display 2 graphs with different number of data points on the x-axis. The code below scales them so it seems that testtwo has the same number of data points as testone. How can I fix that? thanks. z<-1:50; x<-1:100; plot(x,testone,type="l",xlab="",ylab="",main="",lty=4,axes=FALSE,ylim=c(-1.0,1.0),cex=1); par(new=TRUE);

problems downloading R-1.6.1
Hi! There is a "musical" note next to the rpm in CRAN and its mirrors and it seems to require some sort of plugin that I don't have. Is there a way around that? Confidence Band for empirical distribution function
Hi, I was trying to draw an empirical distribution function with uniform confidence bands. So I tried to find a way to calculate values of the Kolmogorov-Smirnov Distribution but failed. I guess it must be hidden somewhere (since the ks-test is implemented), but I was unable to find it. Is there any way to do this? Thanks Leif Boysen

Problem with read.table and scan
I have just installed R on a Windows NT system. Unfortunately I am unable to open any of the data files I wish to work with. I have tried using read.table and scan and to the best of my knowledge am using the correct syntax. The error message I receive is Error in file(file, "r") : cannot open file [file name] I have the data in text files in white-space delimited form. I put them

R version 1.4.1 is released
I've rolled up R-1.4.1.tgz a short while ago. This is a patch upgrade, fixing the most important bugs that cropped up after the 1.4.0 release. A set of recommended packages which have been tested with R-1.4.1 has been bundled up. Binary distributions are expected to include these packages. You can get the files from the developer site ftp://cvs.r-project.org/pub/CRAN/src/base/R-1.4.1.tgz

plotting overlapping data points
I am just learning to use R. The data from my current project are integer-valued. I am able to create scatterplots, but I would like to have some indication on the plots when multiple data points overlap at the same x-y coordinate. SPSS uses 'petals', and other packages use jitter. Are there similar options in R? I have not been able to find any in the documentation. Thanks very much,

Importing many files
Hello Cracks, we want to import 10 x 365 files containing each 7 variables with 1211 rows. The filenames end with numbers from 1 to 365. We tried a for loop to import using read.table but we couldn't create the r objects within the loop. We want each file in an own r-objekt (matrix). Does anyone know what can be done? Is it true that append=T does not work in assignTable() in RMySQL ? More specifically: I cannot append a data.frame to an existing table in a MySQL database, although I can use the same data.frame to create a new table. Even more specifically: > assignTable(con,"employee",dita,append=T) Error in execStatement.MySQLConnection(con, statement, ...) : RS-DBI driver: (could not

Hi, I'm a new R users (although I have a little experience with S+). I am using the latest version (1.4.1) of R on a Windows 2000 system. I have obtained several of the additional R packages ("modules") and would like to know how to permanently install them. What I am after is something similar to the following in S+ > .First <- function() { module("module_name")
