printing with wine thru ghostscript
The printing howto is a little vague in this area. How do I go about printing through ghostscript from windows? I know how to teach ghostscript to print the ttfs (generate the appropriate afms, add them to the fontmap). Where do I place the afms for wine to use? If I provide afms for each truetype font for wine, and then use a postscript printer ppd file, and set lpt1 to be |lpr, will this

I was wondering if someone had some X11 fonts that look like windows font? or the configuration libes to add into .wine/config to get them. I tryed to add "New Times Roman" = "-adobe-times-" but wine just crashed.

foreign characters in R plots
Hi, I am sorry to bother you with such a (presumably) simple question, but I have spent a couple of hours browsing the net and R documentation and came up with no answer to it. My problem is that I need to use Latin2 (ISO8859-2) characters in my plots. Adding an encoding="..." parameter to the postscript function does not solve the problem, as the characters still don't show up.

Using East-european characters in R
Does anybody know how to produce a East-European character "??" - "c with a v-shaped hat " in R (in text or plot)? I do know how to get "??,??" - "s,z, with a v-shaped hat", but not this one. strange behaviour of negative binomial
Dear list, I ran into a strange behaviour of the pnbinom function - or maybe I just made a stupid mistake. First thing is that pnbinom seems to be very slow. The other - more interesting one - is that I get two different curves when I plot the estimated density and the density given by pnbinom. Shouldn't it be the same? This is only the case, I think, if I use the parameter size = 1. I

Hallo, I would like to ask you, for one question. When I export graph to .pdf and I need some czech font, I use a parameter encoding="ISOLatin2.enc" for these special fonts. But exported text is bad. I try ISOLatin1 and MacRoman, but it is some one. I don't know, what Iam doing bad, because in quartz is the graph ok. Sorry....I forget....I have a Mac with Leopard and R ver. 2.6.1.
