nonlinear fitting when both x and y having measurement e
Sorry, for disturbing the list again.
> Also I got one suggestion of using ORDPACK at http://www.netlib.org/.
It's ODRPACK at http://www.netlib.org/, not ORDPACK.

npmc problem?
Hi,
I recently tried to conduct non-parametric multiple comparison with
npmc package, and encountered some problem; sometimes it stopped with
following error.
Error in uniroot(f = function(arg) p - z.dist(arg, corr = corr, df =
df, :

Although I'm not quite sure about calculation of z.quaintile in npmc.R,

runs meetme, eg. 3311,3321,3331,3341,3351 respectively.
Can I connect these 5 meetme conferences to one meetme using IAX2?

window function
Dear Sebastian and all,
This is a Japanese to live in Japan.
I have a question.
Ogg's window functon is
f(x)=sin(1/2*pi*sin^2((x+0.5)/n*pi)) for 0 <= x < n
But I cannot understand why this window function satisfys
the equation
f^2(x)+f^2(x+n/2)=2
which is for MDCT's perfect signal reconstruction.

Little graph questions!
I'm working up a set of small working examples in R to show what various
distributions are and the beauty of the central limit theorem. Those
example programs are in this directory:
http://lark.cc.ukans.edu/~pauljohn/R/ExampleCode/
You can feel free to use those if you want, or you can send me other
small working example code for R. The key here is small, self contained
things that

clear R-objects inside a function?
Using RedHat Linux 7.0, R-1.2.2, R-hdf5-1.2 library,
I want to load a dataset, do some stuff with it, then erase its objects,
get an other, repeat. My friend wrote a function which tried to clear
away all the objects. At the end, it uses rm() to remove objects. This
is the same way we do it interactively, from the R prompt:
testLoadSeveralHDF <- function(numFiles) {

A request for Virtual GPU based on Nouveau
Hi,
I’m a developer from Huawei Technologies Co.,Ltd. China. I’m working on GPU Virtualization.
I found some academic papers on google which describe how to virtualize GPU on Cloud based on Nouveau, Such as < TimeGraph: GPU Scheduling for Real-Time Multi-Tasking Environments > <Gdev: First-Class GPU Resource Management in the Operating System> written by Ph.D Shinpei Kato.

[PATCHv2] kmmio/mmiotrace: fix double free of kmmio_fault_pages
After every iounmap mmiotrace has to free kmmio_fault_pages, but it
can't do it directly, so it defers freeing by RCU.
It usually works, but when mmiotraced code calls ioremap-iounmap
multiple times without sleeping between (so RCU won't kick in and
start freeing) it can be given the same virtual address, so at
every iounmap mmiotrace will schedule the same pages for release.
Obviously it

Trying to make plot of several time series in same graph
Dear Friends in R:
On RedHat linux, R-1.1, I've gotten far enough to create the graph that
shows on the screen with 3 lines, but I have some trouble. Here is the
way I created the three "overlaid" graphs:
data<-read.table("DataCulture0",header=T,as.is = TRUE)
attach(data)
tmp1<-plot(acquaint~T,type='l', ylim=c(0,1),ylab="average

icecast2 transcode?
I've got a dilema. For months, I've been planning and implementing
a large project involving vorbis, ices2, icecast2 and wifi networking.
The plan is to stream live audio from 10 Austin nightclubs during
the SXSW music festival this March.
Well yesterday, it was made plain to me that I must also provide mp3
streams, since "it's an mp3 world."
I'm upset about this

? building a database with a the great examples
Dear R help reader,
I'm not an expert in R and are lerning a lot by reading the help
digest, which is sometimes difficult because the huge amount of data
posted. I have posted some questions before, and are impressed how
quick I got a solution for my problem. Sometimes with quite different
suggestions. I was always wondering if my questions didn't come up
before. On the other site,

box doesn't surround words in legend in printed output
I have made a plot with a legend and on the screen it looks fine, but
when I save as jpg or pdf, or print, the legend box is too small, it
cuts through the words on the right side.
I put an example here:

Is there a work around?

semi-parametric (partial linear?) regression
I just heard a talk about a semi-parametric model. I was quite excited
by the idea. This model is fitted
y= xB + g(z) + e
where x is a data matrix, B a column vector, z is another data matrix,
and g is a smooth model fitted by a Kernel Smoothing regression (I got
the idea any smoother would do as well).
The speaker said that when z is considered as a "control" variable, and
there is
