(not necessarily R-related) help with data presentation
I have a question which is not necessarily related to R. I want to use a distorted political map of the world with certain countries increased in size according to a certain variable (an idea similar to the homunculi usually found in psychology textbooks) to demonstrate the coverage of particular countries in a news service. Does anyone have any idea of how to approach this? I don't think

foreign characters in R plots
Hi, I am sorry to bother you with such a (presumably) simple question, but I have spent a couple of hours browsing the net and R documentation and came up with no answer to it. My problem is that I need to use Latin2 (ISO8859-2) characters in my plots. Adding an encoding="..." parameter to the postscript function does not solve the problem, as the characters still don't show up.

plotting dendrograms from cluster analyses
Hi all, I have a bit of a newbie question here that I hope y'all can help with. I've run a cluster analysis using hclust on about 500 objects (using R1.3 under Win 2000). The problem is that the tips of the dendrogram are so close together on the plot that the labels overlap and are unreadable. I've used "cex" to reduce the label sizes but this isn't sufficient with so

onet.permutation()
I saw the manual of this function but not sure what to do. I have a array contain 7 numbers and want to choose 4 to do permutation test. But using this function with parameters as onet.permutation(scores,4), it returns 0. Instead, with no parameter, onet.permutation(), it returns something but every time it's different. Please tell me how am I supposed to do it. Thanks a lot -- View this

Greeting List Members, I''m not sure if what I want to do is possible at all. I have an office network (ONet) with 3 uplinks. Each of these ISPs give me a block of /26 to /29 IP addresses, as my needs / demands are. Now, I have a remote server (RS) hosted in a data center, which communicates between several hosts in my office. What we want to do is encrypt the data being transferred

Personal dovecot
Do you think it wold be worthwhile to add command line options to "deliver" and "imap" to make them ignore "system wide" configuration file and use ~/.dovecotrc instead? I would like to use "imap via fetchmail ssh plugin" and "deliver via ~/.forward (to get sieve support)". Such options would allow "cleaner" configuration. --

question for some tests
Hi! I come from Poland, and my English is not as good as it should be, so I have to apologize for my mistakes. I would like to ask you for a package, where I can find a test, which is named The Test Of Series (in Poland). In econometric models we use this test to check if the residuals are completely random ( I mean with destiny). And one more thing - I would like to know where I can find a test

call_once and TSan
Same problem exists, thread A can still be within REAL(call_once), but after it ran user code and set the flag to ~0. Roughly, call_once does: __call_once(flag, arg, func) { mutex_lock(mut); if (flag == BEING_INITIALIZED) { wait } else if (flag == NOT_INITIALIZED_AT_ALL) { flag = BEING_INITIALIZED; mutex_unlock(mut); func(arg); // <=== user code callback

[LLVMdev] Implement a Register Allocator in LLVM
I'm working on my project for completion undergraduate courses, consisting of an experimental analysis of registers allocation algorithms. For this task, I am using the set of tools from the LLVM project. However, I have read the documentation of the LLVM project and not yet found a way to put the pieces of the puzzle together. So far I know: - As passes work as engage them to LLVM and
