axis ignores srt/crt (PR#249)
Rotated text for axis labels should be possible with one of par(srt=90) axis(1,at,labels) par(srt=0) or axis(1,at,labels,srt=90) (or similar with crt instead of srt) None of these works in pre0.65 or in 0.64.2 _ platform sparc-sun-solaris2.7 arch sparc os solaris2.7 system sparc,

predict.glm
Hello, Probably a stupidly easy question, but I have done the following in order to make predictions from a fitted glm with new data: my.glm <- glm(lt96~so296[,1:17],family=binomial(link=logit)) p96 <- predict.glm(my.glm,newdata=so293[,1:17],type="response") but I always get the fitted linear predictors from the original model, ie there doesn't seem to be acknowledgement of

Rotated mtext
I seem to remember this coming up before, but I can't find it any messages I've saved or in the archives (searching by subject). I want to rotate mtext so that it's perpendicular to the right side. I tried srt=90 and lots of other values, but it seems to be ignored. Is there a way to do this? ______________________________________________________________________ Stuart Luppescu

How to rotate axis labels? 2009
Hi, while searching for a solution i found many solutions in the internet. But the postings seemed to be many years old and the workaround was a dirty hack like this: http://cran.r-project.org/doc/FAQ/R-FAQ.html#How-can-I-create-rotated-axis-labels_003f Now its the year 2009 and there might have been some improvement... Does anyone know a nice and easy way to turn labels on the y axis in the

stripchart-y axis labels
Hello, I am trying to create a stripchart for my data, where y axis labels are characters (ie,names of cities). I would like to change the orientation of the y - axis labels, ie perpendicular to y axis. Below is the code i am using: par(srt=90) with(ozone.ne.trim, stripchart(Median~City, main = "stripchart(ozone)")) The par option doesn't seem to working. Kindly help. Thanks

Labels perpendicular to axis
I would like to make my horizontal barplot vertical axis labels perpendicular to the axis. I tried las=1, srt=90; I even tried yaxt='n' thinking I'd put the labels in using mtext, but the axis continued to be drawn. Can anyone help me with this? My barplot() statement looks like this: barplot(height=foo$rebint[o1], names=foo$Unit[o1], horiz=TRUE, col=mycolors[foo$type[o1]],

rotated ylab with xyplot
hi all, in R, what's the best way to have a rotated ylab in a graph plotted with either xyplot or xYplot? I tried this but it didn't work. xyplot(y~x,data.frame(x=1:10,y=runif(10)),ylab=list(srt=90,crt=90,rot=90,label="my label")) more generally, how do you output a text at an angle in a lattice graph? what would be a good reference for R lattice graphics? Problem adjusting x-labels with bargraphCI
Hello: I'm having quite a bit of difficulty adjusting the x-labels using bargraphCI. I've tried using text and srt=45 to rotate the labels or mtext for 2 lines to break up the labels. However, using either method, I cannot line up the labels with the midpoints of the bars (they line up with some sort of tick mark that is off the midpoint of the bars). Any suggestions would be greatly

rotating axis / mtext labels
Hello list. Is it possible to use par(srt=45) to rotate text by 45 degrees along the x-axis of a plot. Using: <code> x_names<-c("C57 Nv", "C57 Vacc", "129 Nv", "129 Vacc", "IFNgR Nv", "IFNgR Vacc") par(srt=45) mtext(font=2, x_names, side=1, line=1, at=l, cex=1.2) par(srt=0) </code> doesn't seem to work in R 2.2.0

Rotate values on Y axis
Hi, I have been working through one of the examples on the FAQ about rotating the labels on the x axis, I need to do the same but for the y axis. I have managed to change some of the code, but I am still not getting there, there is still something wrong. My syntax is as follows: > par(mar = c(5, 7, 4, 2) + 0.1) > plot(1 : 8, yaxt = "n", ylab = "") > axis(2,

ploting axes and rotating strings
Hello! I have two question that rose from trying to tacle the same problem in two differnet ways. What I want to do is to plot axes (only values or labels, no tick marks) in such a way that 'cex' can be very small, text can be perpendicular to the axis (as in axis(las=2) ) and the text is stil at the right position. Let me demonstrate with a small example:

Wishlist: strwidth allow for rotation of text (PR#7931)
Hi, This is not a bug, but an enhancement suggestion. "strwidth" only gives the width of the text according to the x-axis user coordinates, and similarly for "strheight". Even if the par setting "srt" is changed to rotate the text, the resulting width (resp. height) is in terms of the non-rotated text. Currently, if I want to know how much space to leave for

Rotated text on a regression line
Dear all, I stumbled over a problem recently when trying to use srt with text() on a windows device. What I intended to do was to plot a simple regression line, and to rotate a piece of text such that the text has the same angle as the regression line. However, the text is always plotted in a slightly wrong angle: #### x=1:10 #create arbitrary x and y values y=x*2-rnorm(1:10)

Rotate x-axis label on log scale
Hi I'd appreciate some help with plotting odds ratios. I want to rotate the labels on the x-axis by 45 degrees. The usual way of doing this, using text - e.g. text(1, par('usr')[3]-2.25..) - gives no result when the y-axis is a log scale. I guess this is because, as the par help says, for a logarithmic y-axis: y-limits will be 10 ^ par("usr")[3:4] Does anyone know

axis label rotation
Hello, I recently switch over from Splus to R and I have not been able to generate right axis labels that face inwards. This is accomplished in Splus with the command srt=270 but this option is not supported in R. In addition the par argument las=0 or 3 does not rotate the right axis labels. The editor of a journal is demanding that the right axis labels face inwards in the figures I recently

question about "srt" argument in text() plotting function
Just wondering: it appears that "srt" does not accept a vector of values, just a single value. I ended up using tapply() as the following code snippet shows, so it's not a major problem. I was justa little surprised that this argument (srt) differs from things like "labels," "lty," "col," and so on, all of which accept (and recycle as needed
