repeated measures and covariance structures
Hello- I'm trying to do some repeated measures ANOVAs. In the past, using SAS, I have used the framework outlined in Littell et al.'s "SAS System for Mixed Models", using the REPEATED statement in PROC MIXED to model variation across time within an experimental unit. SAS allows you to specify different within-unit covariance structures (e.g., compound symmetric, AR(1), etc.) to

Comparing Von Bertalanffy Growth Curves
I am trying to compare Vbert growth curves from several years of fish data. I am following the code provided by: http://www.ncfaculty.net/dogle/fishR/gnrlex/VonBertalanffy/VonBertalanffy.pdf. Specifically the section on VBGM Comparisons between groups. ? This code is pretty cut and dry. I am able to run it perfectly with the "fake" data that is provided. But when I run it with my own

fitting models with gnls
Dear R-list members, Some months ago I wrote a message on the usage of gnls (nlme library) and here I come again. Let me give an example: I have a 10 year length-at-age data set of 10 fishes (see growth.dat at the end of this message) and I want to fit a von Bertalanffy growth model, Li= Linf*(1-exp(-k*(ti-t0))) where Li = length at age i, Linf= asymptotic length, k= curvature parameter, ti=

More help need on Von Bertalanffy Growth Curves
Howdy, Last week I got some great help on why I was getting an error code when trying to run this model, thanks everyone!  I was able to get the code up and running beautifully for several data sets.  Now I am getting different errors with this new data set.  I can't figure out why, I have more data points with this species, and it is ordered exactly the same as the other species I have been

fitting model to resampled data
I apologize if this comes across as confusing. I will try to explain my situation as best I can. I have R bootstrapping my growth data for fish. It's resampling my database of age and length data and then produces several new datasets for me. In this case, it's resampling my data to create three new datasets of age and length data. Here is my code with my original data called

after hard reboot, split-brain happened, but nothing showed in gluster voluem heal info command !
Hi, Thanks for reply! I?ve checked [1]. But the problem is that there is nothing shown in command ?gluster volume heal <volume-name> info?. So these split-entry files could only be detected when app try to visit them. I can find gfid mismatch for those in-split-brain entries from mount log, however, nothing show in shd log, the shd log does not know those split-brain entries. Because there

plot and lm (2)
Thanks for your reply Nassar. What I really want is to overlay (like add=TRUE) the plots 1 and 2. With plots "at the same screen" I meant overlaid and not one beside the other, i.e., only one plot with all the points (1 to 10) in blue (or any other color), the points 5 to 9 in red and a regression line from points 5 to 9. strange charecters after redcloth usage
I''m using redcloth on my blog to transform my input into html. Alot of times if I type "I''ve" I''ll wind up with "I,ve" except that it''s not a comma but a very similar charecter. This is really killing my rss feeds. What''s causing this? How do I fix it? -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

greek letters in plots
Hi, I want to write in x axis label "fitted value of lambda" (lambda in greek letter). xlab=expression(lambda) gives the "lambda", I tryed things like xlab=paste ("fitted value of ", expression(lambda)) but I didn't get the greek letter. Samba authenication to Window Active Directory
Has any version of Samba been tested for compatibility with the new Windows Active Directory? We will be upgrading our NT domain to 2000 and creating Active Directory. Currently our solaris samba 2.0.7 server is configured to authenicate users from our NT domain controllers. Will we encounter problems with the 2000 upgrade? how do R calculates the number of intervals between tick-marks
Hello, I want to know how do R calculates the number of intervals between tick-marks in the y axis in a plot. I'm making a three y-axes plot and this information would help me a lot. after hard reboot, split-brain happened, but nothing showed in gluster voluem heal info command !
Hi, To resolve the gfid split-brain you can follow the steps at [1]. Since we don't have the pending markers set on the files, it is not showing in the heal info. To debug this issue, need some more data from you. Could you provide these things? 1. volume info 2. mount log 3. brick logs 4. shd log May I also know which version of gluster you are running. From the info you have provided it

weighting in nls
I'm fitting nonlinear functions to some growth data but I'm getting radically different results in R to another program (Prism). Furthermore the values from the other program give a better fit and seem more realistic. I think there is a problem with the results from the r nls function. The differences only occur with weighted data so I think I'm making a mistake in the weighting.

Testing which RuntimeError is raised
I am just starting to use unit testing. Way cool. But I am not finding very clear docs on assert_raise. I have managed to write a test that tells me that the destroy I am trying to test fails with a RuntimeError (as it should). However, I would really like to test that it rails for the specific reason I have in my model. How can I get more specific? Am I going to have to create my own exception

after hard reboot, split-brain happened, but nothing showed in gluster voluem heal info command !
HI gluster experts, I meet a tough problem about ?split-brain? issue. Sometimes, after hard reboot, we will find some files in split-brain, however its parent directory or anything could be shown in command ?gluster volume heal <volume-name> info?, also, no entry in .glusterfs/indices/xattrop directory, can you help to shed some lights on this issue? Thanks! Following is some info from
