Windows, RCMD INSTALL and path (PR#939)
Full_Name: David Firth
Version: 1.2.3
OS: Windows NT4
Submission from: (NULL) (163.1.103.107)
Two things that look like bugs:
1. RCMD INSTALL does not seem to cope with quotes in the Windows path. With my
path set to
PATH="C:\R\Rtools";"C:\R\rw1023\bin";C:\Perl\bin\;C:\WINNT\system32;C:\WINNT;C:\
mingw2\bin
I get, for example,

Inno Setup 6.0.2 fails before creating exe file on Windows (R-3.6.0)
Multiple people have now reported that the R installer does not build
with InnoSetup 6 (released last week). The inno log shows this error:
Error on line 12 in src\gnuwin32\installer\R.iss: Minimum NT version
specified by MinVersion must be at least 6.0. (Windows 2000/XP/Server
2003 are no longer supported.)

Rcmd REMOVE does not allow --library argument (PR#957)
This is in Windows 98. The problem exists in both rw1021 and rw1023, using
ActiveState Perl builds 620 and 626:

Usage: Rcmd REMOVE [options] pkgs

non-digits in svnversion output mess up windows build if USE_SVNVERSION=yes (PR#11339)
Full_Name: Bill Dunlap

OS: Windows XP
Submission from: (NULL) (70.98.76.47)
I tried for the first time to build R from source on Windows, where I
got the source code via svn. Per the Installation and Administration
manual, I altered src\gnuwin32\MkRules so it had the the locally
correct paths to HTML Help Workshop and Inno Setup 5. I also set

Need help with prelink and exec-shield
Hi,
I was using Inno Setup 4 (http://www.jrsoftware.org/) under wine to
create a win32 installer. Apart from some minor locale related issues,
everything worked fine. But when I tried to change the icon image of the
installer (by uncommenting line 17 of test.iss in the attached example),
I got the following error message:
err:virtual:map_image Image was mapped at 0x76360000: standard load

Inno Setup 6.0.2 fails before creating exe file on Windows (R-3.6.0)
I am working on compiling R-3.6.0 for Windows 10 64bit using rtools40
(beta 11). I had also installed the most recent update of Inno setup,
which is now 6.0.2.With that version, `make risntaller` fails at the
call to ""C:/R/Inno/iscc" R.iss > R-3.6.0.log 2>&1" and just exits,
pointing to line 175 of the makefile which is:
$(RPREFIX)-win.exe: R.iss

Can't install "e1071"
I observed the same behavior as Edward this morning with R-1.2.2 on Red Hat
Linux 7.0. There appears to be a problem with the library in netpbm-9.5-5,
even after hunting down the missing shhopt.h that pbmplus.h is looking for.
I worked around the problem by compiling e1071 without pbm support (moved
pbm.c to pbm.c.bak).

It does have that effect, but the error messages
are pretty obscure:
c:\Rtools\MinGW\bin\windres.exe: rcico.rc:9: syntax error
and

This is not a bug, it's a feature.
It stops me from distributing versions with unintentional uncommitted
changes.

Building rinstaller using R-devel (3.2.0-to-be) halts when trying to copy html files
As the build process, especially for Windows, is changing
significantly for R 3.2.0, I am trying to build R-devel in
preparation. When running `make rinstaller`, I get the following
error:
cp -p ../../../etc/x64/Makeconf R-devel/etc/x64
mkdir -p R-devel/doc
cp -p ../../../doc/CRAN_mirrors.csv R-devel/doc
mkdir -p R-devel/doc/manual/images
cp -pR ../../../doc/html R-devel/doc
