error starting R 1.2.2 in Redhat 7.0 (GLIB 2.2 not defined...)
All:
I just upgraded my system to Redhat 7.0, and installed the
RPM for R 1.2.2. I intall R 1.2.2 using the rpm -U xxxx command.
When R is invoked from some directories it starts and runs fine, from
other directories I get a strange message at startup (and R exits
without starting). Thus far the directory with the problem tends to
contain ".data" files from the previous version

GLIBC problem on Linux 7
I'm using Redhat linux 7 and R 1.2.2. When trying to run a program I

R-demo for non-statisticians/mathematicians
Hi all. A friend of mine asked me to assist with an R presentation to the
Penn State LUG in a few weeks. The audience will be predominately
computer scientists and/or engineers (I suspect) and they are just looking
for presentations of good open source software and my friend volunteered
R. We are both relatively new to R, so I thought it would be best to ask
the list for your opinion....what do

Moving-Tiles Bootstrap
I wish to perform moving tiles bootstrap resampling on some gridded data
meteorological data. I've many years experience with S-Plus, but it has
no way to perform a moving-tiles bootstrap. Within R I've learned how to
use quadratresample() with the spatstats package and would be happy to
simply use empirical percentiles if generating the replicates were fast,
but it isn't. So,

wine.conf newbie problem +user32.dll
I seem to have gotten past one hurdle and on to the next. It seems that the problem that
I was having relates to poorly documented changes in the config files in the HOWTO.
I now have /root/.wine/config which seems to solve the old drive problem. However, here
is my new error.
[root@pato .wine]# cp /etc/wine.conf ~/.winerc
cp: overwrite `/root/.winerc/wine.conf'? y

RPM SPEC rebuild errors
Hello All,
I have been trying all afternoon to rebuild the Samba RPM for my Fedora
3 with the MySQL passdb support and from what I can see it only needs
the inclusion of "--with-expsam=mysql" in the SPEC file in addition to
the regular ones.
The problem is that no matter what version of Samba I try to rebuild, it
always gice an error at the same place:

Possible new rsync bug
Hello,
I think I found a bug in rsync. I checked the TODO and the issues, but I
didn't find any reference to it.
It seems, that rsync goofes up, if you rename a directory and then create a
symlink with the old name to the new location.
Below is a simple example how to do it.
