including r code in a latex file
Dear R people,
The header practically says it all. I was wanting to include r code in a
Latex file. Since R code using{ and }, which are interpreted by Latex as
control characters, I would expect it to get upset.
I believe that \{ would probably print as {, but I hoping I don't have to
go through the code and add lots of \. I would rather use some global
commannd, along the lines of

segmetation fault
Hey,
I don;t know if anyone has come across this error before...
I am running R on the terminal of my MAC OS X 10.3.4 and I have written C code and compiled it using
R CMD SHLIB mycode.c
There were no problems in compiling so I now have mycode.o and mycode.so.
I used dyn.load("mycode.so") and again, no problems. But when I try to use the code .C("mycode",x)

Issue with concatenation of URL losing
a) you need to read the help pages on the paste function... more likely
you are looking for the paste0 function because extra spaces will most
likely break the GET request format.
b) quotes do not become "stuck" as \" ... that is a visual representation
intended to clarify that that quote is not terminating the string but is
actually part of it. If you want to see the contents

[LLVMdev] LLVM interpreter does not support fmod
It seems llvm interpreter only supports a limited number of external
functions. fmod, in particular is not supported. any reason why it is not
supported ?
"lli -force-interpreter test.bc

source package build/installation with subdirectory-lib
hi all - i have a source package i'm writing that i'd like to be able
to install with a special library that my R src files rely on.
to be more precise, i have a normal R package directory structure
(i.e. src/ R/ man/ DESCRIPTION NAMESPACE etc.).
i also have another directory here called depPkg, and it has it's own
configure file for the canonical './configure && make

[LLVMdev] Passing arguments to opt via clang
I have tried to invoke a transformation/optimization pass using -mllvm,
without success. I might be missing something.
For example I have a shared/dynamic library which contains LLVM passes. I
used to invoke them with llvmc like this:
>>*llvmc mycode.c -o mycode.o -c -opt -Wo,=-load,libFoo.dylib,-Foo*
Can this style of optimization be executed using -mllvm argument?
Thx,
PMon

The following code (using rgamma) hangs
Hi,
I'm seeing something that may be a bug in R's standalone math library,
which is packaged by Debian as r-mathlib. I reported it to the Debian BTS
as http://bugs.debian.org/657573
I'm using Debian squeeze, and the code was tested with r-mathlib 2.11.1-6
(default on stable) and 2.14.1-1 (from testing/unstable).
I summarize this report below. The following code with the R math

rsync logging and permission problems
Dear rsync people,
I have just started using rsync for backups. I have had a couple of
issues. Note I'm trying to use rsync as user using ssh between two
machines both running Debian GNU/Linux potato (2.2r3). The local machine
is currently running 2.4.6-1 and the remote 2.3.2-1.2.
1) When I run rsync with the vv option, stuff scrolls of my screen faster
than I can read it. I was wondering if

passing arguments to R CMD SHLIB
Dear People,
I want to run gcc with optimisation turned on (-O2), and with -Wall (all
warnings) enabled, when using R CMD SHLIB. When I do make, which is
R CMD SHLIB -Wall -O2 cftp.c mcmc.c latticefn.c -lm
in this case, I get
faheem ~/research/cftp>make
R CMD SHLIB -Wall -O2 cftp.c mcmc.c latticefn.c -lm

HELP!! - PHP calling R to execute a r-code file (*.r)
Hi,
I have met a tough problem when using PHP to call R to generate some plots.
I tested it okay in my personal computer with WinXP. But when I was trying
to update to my server (Win2003 server), I found it did not work. Below is
the details:
1> r-code file (E:/mycode.r):

jpeg("E:/mytest.jpg")
plot(1:10)
dev.off()

R CMD SHLIB uses foo.c instead of foo.cc if both are present (PR#2644)
Full_Name: Faheem Mitha
Version: 1.6.2
OS: Debian GNU/Linux
Submission from: (NULL) (209.42.199.193)
Suppose you are making a shared library using
R CMD SHLIB foo.cc
If there is a file called foo.c in the same directory, then it will be used
instead.
faheem ~/scratch/r-base>R CMD SHLIB foo.cc
gcc-3.0 -I/usr/lib/R/include -D__NO_MATH_INLINES -mieee-fp -fPIC -g -O2

loading compiled C++ code as shared library
Dear People,
Over the last few days I've been writing C++ to compile as a shared
library (previously I have always used C). Not entirely to my surprise, I
am getting errors. Specifically, when I try to load the shared library, I
get
Error in dyn.load(x, as.logical(local), as.logical(now)) :

graphing help: line runs off top of graph
Hi,
See the files at
http://bulldog.duhs.duke.edu/~faheem/R/
Usage is
$ Rscript memgraph.R meminfo.csv
Output is meminfo.pdf. As you can see, one of the lines (blue) runs off
the top of the graph. Can anyone suggest a way to avoid this happening?
Please CC me on any reply. Thanks in advance.

trouble using R Mathlib as standalone
Dear People,
I am trying to use R's Math library as standalone, as documented in
/src/nmath/standalone. I am using C++ in Debian testing, and the versions
are as follows:

ii r-mathlib 1.4.0-1 `GNU S' - Standalone R math library
I have a file (rand.cc) as follows. I don't think that lattice.hh or mh.hh
