Problem with & question about \preformatted in .Rd
Hi, The "\preformatted" environment in Rd files doesn't seem to escape long sequences of backslashes properly when converted to pdf (LaTeX) documentation. I'm running R version 2.14 (from subversion, revision 57751) on Linux (RHEL). Here's an example from the command line: echo

calculating recursive sequences
Hi, I was trying to repeat the estimation of threshold GARCH models from the book "Analysis of Financial Time Series" by Ruey S. Tsay, and I was succesfull, but I had to use "for" loop, which is quite slow. The loop is necessary, since you need to calculate recursive sequence. Is there a faster way to do this in R, without using loops? The model is such: r_t = \mu + \alpha_2

Rd.sty question: LaTeX expert needed
The Rd.sty LaTeX package is used when building the R manuals, and by the LaTeX pages produced from the man pages. I have tracked down some problems G?bor Cs?rdi was having recently (see "Re: [R] preformatted and '#' in manual pages" in R-help) to a LaTeX problem, and am trying to work out how to fix it. Specifically, the .Rd file he was using had a structure like \dQuote{

features of save and save.image (unexpected file sizes)
Hi, Today I came upon unexpected R behaviour. I did some modelling and the result was R object, about 28MB size (nested list, with matrixes as list elements). When I was saving the session with save.image, the resulting .RData file was 300MB. There were no other large objects: >

Samba 2.0.3
Hi, I am unable to log into samba anymore since I upgraded to 2.0.3. I've attached my smb.conf below and I've even gone to trying the CVS releases to see if one of them will help. First of all, I get soemthing like {33}: smbclient -L vilnius -U mharrell Added interface ip=207.97.105.146 bcast=207.97.105.255 nmask=255.255.255.128 Password: session setup failed: ERRSRV

Incorrect display of b[hat((a))] expression in plots
Hi, I am not sure if this is a bug or a non-implement feature of text-drawing functions with TeX-style expression, but hat() and some of its equals does not get the right "bounding boxes" if they are put in sub- or superscripts. For instance, for the expression 'b[hat(a)]' the hat() seems to shift 'hat(a)' too much to the right of 'b'. Try the below example and

preformatted and '#' in manual pages
Dear All, I have the following in a .Rd file: ... human readable (not binary) format. The format itself is like the following: \preformatted{ \# vertex1name vertex2name [optionalWeight] vertex3name [optionalWeight] } Here, the first vertex of an edge is preceded with a pound sign ... and it is fine with R 2.9.2, but fails on R-devel, when building the PDF version

Just upgraded 4.7 to 4.8 stable. Hoped that timezone info will be up to date, but it still isn't though files in /usr/share/zoneinfo show new dates. For instance daylight saving time settings are outdated in Europe/Vilnius file. I'll try to recompile those files from sources got fom ftp://elsie.nci.nih.gov/pub/ but it would be nice to have updated info for the next release of freebsd or

[OT] getting a ~ character in LaTeX
I am writing course notes in LaTeX. In the part where I am describing model-fitting functions in R I want to use a ~ character inline. If I am displaying an example of R code in its own environment I use the alltt environment, which protects the ~ character. I have forgotten how to protect the ~ when I am writing something like The operator `~' is used to define a model formula in \R.

CentOS and Intel S5000PAL NIC problem
Hello, - I have posted this to the Rocks Clusters discussion list, I will try here too. I have problems installing Rocks 4.1 and 4.2 Beta, which is based on CentOS 4.3 on Intel S5000PAL server board. My guess is that the installion requires "10/100/1000 Intel? 82563EB PHYs supporting Intel? I/O Acceleration Technology" to be fully up. However, the included e1000 module seems to be not

POP3 notice if password expired
Hi, We just migrated our IMAP service to Dovecot and it performs very well. We also want to migrate our POP3 service (qpopper) to Dovecot. The problem is that Dovecot and Qpopper differently act on expired passwords: Qpopper: -ERR "user": password expired. Dovecot: -ERR Authentication failed. Are there any way to tell Dovecot to report about expired passwords? We have about 30000

GlusterFS mount does not list directory content until parent directory is listed
Hello, Have spotted strange behaviour of GlusterFS fuse mount. I am unable to list files in a directory until parent directory is listed. However if I do list file with full path it is listed on some client nodes. Example: localadmin at ldgpsua00000038:~$ ls -al /var/lib/nova/instances/_base/ ls: cannot access /var/lib/nova/instances/_base/: No such file or directory localadmin at

CentOS 7 issues with pdf manual / tex conversion
On a CentOS 7 machine, I am at a loss with respect to an inability to run a full R CMD check as anything involving tex files ends in tears. We followed the README at CRAN and installed a large number of tex-live packages on this machine. But when a manual is created, we end up with what follows below. Here, I chopped some of the error messages, the key seems to be 'Insufficient extension
