R cairo_pdf function does not respect plotting boundaries
Hello all, When producing a plot in R using the cairo_pdf device, the resultant plot does not respect the plotting boundaries. Lines and shaded regions will spill over the lower x-axis and the right-side y-axis (sides 1 and 4). I would like to know if it is possible to fix this behaviour when using 'cairo_pdf' in R? As an example, see the image at this web link:

[R] [FORGED] R cairo_pdf function does not respect plotting boundaries
Hi (cc'ed to r-devel where further discussion should probably take place) Thanks Lee. I see that problem. There is a "+ 1" in the Cairo device code for setting the clipping region (https://github.com/wch/r-source/blob/ba600867f2a94e46cf9eb75dc8b37f12b08a4561/src/library/grDevices/src/cairo/cairoFns.c#L156) Remove the "+ 1" and the problem goes away (for your example

get plot axis rounding method
Hello, Does anyone know how to get the rounding method used for the axis tick numbers/values in plot()? I'm using mtext() to plot the values used to plot vertical and horizontal lines (using abline()) and I'd like these vertical and horizontal line values to be rounded like the axis tick values are rounded. In other words, I want numbers plotted with mtext() to be rounded in the same

clipped lines have wrong slope in log plot (PR#839)
Hi, I'm using R version 1.2.0 (2000-12-15), on RedHat Linux 6.2 (kernel 2.2.14). The following command ought to plot a straight-line on a log-log graph but instead plots two line segments, both with the wrong slope: plot(c(1,10,100),c(100,10,1),type="l",xlim=c(1,20),ylim=c(1,20),log="xy") Only clipped lines seem to have this problem. Changing to type "b" or

Hi, I am trying to parameterize the following mixed model (following Piepho and Ogutu 2002), to test for a trend over time, using multiple sites: y[ij]=mu+b[j]+a[i]+w[j]*(beta +t[i])+c[ij] where: y[ij]= a response variable at site i and year j mu = fixed intercept Beta=fixed slope w[j]=constant representing the jth year (covariate) b[j]=random effect of jth year, iid N(0,sigma2[b]) a[i]=random

volcano plot.r
Hello. My name is Akashah. i work at metabolic laboratory. From my study, i found that volcano plot can help a lot in my section.  i already studied about the volcano plot and get the coding to run in R software, unfortunately, there is may be something wrong with the coding. This is because  no graph appear, but no error (blue color text) was shown on the R console. Below is the coding for

Controlling the extent of ablines on plot
Hi all, I'm attempting to make a quite-specific plot where the axes cross at the origin and with gridlines for guidance. I've been using ablines to create the reference lines because I want a lot of control as to where they are placed on the axis. This command works very well for such control. However... These ablines don't seem to work when I specify the origin as 0,0. They go

Background color with jpeg and png devices
If I change the background color of a plot, with par(bg="red") for example, I get a plot with a red background when I use the postscript or X11 devices. With the png or jpeg devices, the background is white. Is this the intended behavior, or a bug? Is there anyway to get a non-white background with the png device? I'm using R-1.1.0 on Linux.

read.fwf doesn't work with header = TRUE (PR#8226)
Full_Name: Emmanuel Paradis Version: 2.1.1 OS: Linux Submission from: (NULL) (193.49.41.105) read.fwf(..., header = TRUE) does not work properly since: 1/ the original header is printed on the console and not in FILE; 2/ the different 'parts' of the header should be separated with tabs to work with the call to read.table. Here is a suggested fix for src/library/utils/R/read.fwf.R:

Expression in plot text
I'd like to put a degree symbol in the title of a plot. Something like: plot(1,main=expression("Data at " * 45 * degree * " North")) That works fine, but I like the 45 to be the value of a variable, instead of a constant, an in: lat <- 45 plot(1,main=expression("Data at " * lat * degree * " North")) But this doesn't work of course, the graph

par(ask=T) in termplot()
Hi, I think it would be nice to have par(ask=T) set by default in termplot(), like it is in plot.lm(). saving rounded numbers as a new variable in a dataframe
A basic question, but one that eludes me. I have created a new variable $numurder, which I have rounded off. I want to save the rounded off version of this variable to an existing datafile called 'ngri.csv' . numurder <-c((murder*no.of.cases)/100) [[1]] [1] 48.952 112.073 182.160 974.610 122.140 663.432 150.856 18.988 137.925 198.045 68.930 203.148 30.056 100.955

methods for interval-censored data
Dear all, Are there functions or packages in R that can handle interval-censored data? I have looked in various packages (such as survival5 or event), but it seems that only right-censored data can be analysed. More generally, are there methods to analyse both interval-censored observations and right-censored observations in the same data set? Thanks in advance. Emmanuel Paradis

larger decimal numbers get rounded ....
Hi, I am sure there is a reason but ...... why larger decimal numbers get rounded to the nearest integer? Example: a <- 3308000.5 a [1] 3308001 I would like my numbers to be decimals .... since they do represent coordinates and i don't want them rounded .... how can i keep them as they are? Thanks, Monica _________________________________________________________________

rounded corners in rails apps ?
Hi all I like very much rounded corners and often used thee well known nifty Javascript approach for that, Recently I discovered Rico ( http://openrico.org), which does the same and is much simpler to use (don''t require additional css files) and is based on prototype.js. This is all very nice, but there is currently one problem, the latest Rico library seems to require prototype 1.3.1,
