Loop Delaying
Hi there, I know this question may sounds strange, but here it goes: Is it possible to delay the speed of a for loop? For example, if I have: for (i in 1:100) { blah blah blah } within the for loop I want to draw a series of plots, and combining the plots together I'll have an animation. Problem is the loop is too fast and I only see the end result (which is not surprising actually).

R Introductory Slides...
Hi there, I have just written a short introduction to R that I am intended to use in a tutorial in my programming club. I wrote it as an undergraduate student. Therefore I have put considerations on what kind of stuff will be of interests to most of the students. Many of my friends I talked to didn't like R much, however after I showed them what it can do most of them were impressed and

ts in R (again)
I have done a re-working of the time series code in base R and library ts that will appear in Friday's snapshot. I am sure at least one person will be dissatisfied, but I am convinced there are fewer errors than there were before (I found more than 20, as well as several documented features that did not exist.) The principles in the code are: tsp attributes can only go on vectors of length

Re: [R] Problem using GLM in a loop (fwd)
This example is caused by R's messing with formula environments. That's explained in ?formula, but should it not be explained in ?model.frame ? Simple test: data <- data.frame(y=rnorm(100), x=1:100) testit <- function(formula) { weights <- runif(100) glm(formula, weights=weights, data=data) } testit(y ~ x) weights is looked for in the environment of the formula, not of

Documentation detail [was: Merging factor levels.]
Hi to R developers. In the "Details:" section of "?levels", it would be nice including the following sentence, taken from a reply from Brian Ripley: If you set two levels to be the same label, they get merged. Granted, the "Examples:" section does have a terse comment and examples from which users may imply this behaviour. Yet, the documentation would be
