About Omega in pda()
** High Priority ** Hello R users My issue is both theorical and technical. I would like to run a penalised discriminant analysis with the fda() function, but I don''t know all the details of splines theory. I try on the example of the phonems from the article "Penalised Discriminant Analysis" of Hastie, Buja and Tibshirani 1994 : 5 groups and 256 variables. The 256

tcltk library on linux
R-users, Sorry for my English, I'm French. I want to use the Rcmdr package which depends on the tcltk library. I'm on Linux Ubuntu. I don't manage to use Rcmdr even if tcl and tk are installed. I'm a newbie in Linux and I don't know how to specify Configtcl.sh and Configtk.sh location to R (I saw that on the mailing list archive). I have installed all the

I 'm going to be crazy ;-) Has anyone got the same problem (and found the solution!) ? Thanks in advance Yohan -----Message d'origine----- De : Dirk Eddelbuettel [mailto:edd@debian.org] Envoyé : jeudi 10 août 2006 18:50 À :

Least Absolute Deviation
Dear all, I try to fit least absolute deviation (LAD) regression with R. I couldn't find any command to carry out LAD. What I am doing now is using nlm() and setting the function argument to minimize the sum of the absolute deviation. But for some data it keeps giving out the error message: Error in nlm(absdev, b.start) : non-finite value supplied by nlm. (there is no na in my dataset.) I

Inverse Prediction with splines
Hello, I have fit a simple spline model to the following data. Data x y 0 1.298 2 0.605 3 0.507 4 0.399 5 0.281 6 0.203 7 0.150 8 0.101 Model Sp.1=lm(y~bs(x,df=4)) Now I wish to inverse predict the x for y=.75, say. Optimize works fine for a polynomial but I can figure out how to get the spline model into the function argument. Can anyone help me out. Thanks!! Jeff Jeff Morris Sanofi
