Alternatives to Rico LiveGrid?
I''m no friend of paging, but I have to somehow deal with lists of potentially large numbers of objects. The Rico LiveGrid[*] at first blush seems attractive, but has some major drawbacks. It doesn''t work with Safari/Konqueror, not yet anyway. It can only handle fixed-size tables and requires that widths, including column widths, are hand-crafted. I''m looking for a

Does anybody have a solution that really works nice? I know about: http://wiki.script.aculo.us/scriptaculous/show/accordion%20feature but I was hoping someone had worked out the kinks. I''m really looking for something like: http://openrico.org/rico/demos.page?demo=rico_accordion Thanks for your time. Joe _______________________________________________ Rails-spinoffs mailing list

[PATCH] Effect.Accordion (not from the wiki)
Hello boys and girls In the ever-loving spirit of OSS, here''s another feature for s.a.u. In particular it''s called Effect.Accordion, and is a scriptaculified version of openrico''s Accordion. Work in progress, I''ll submit further modifications as the come in, but this is 90% of what needs to be done. I anticipate some bugs when I start using it more. Tested

rounded corners in rails apps ?
Hi all I like very much rounded corners and often used thee well known nifty Javascript approach for that, Recently I discovered Rico ( http://openrico.org), which does the same and is much simpler to use (don''t require additional css files) and is based on prototype.js. This is all very nice, but there is currently one problem, the latest Rico library seems to require prototype 1.3.1,

Scrolling Tables/Divs?
Is anyone working on a scrolling table or div such as the openrico livegrid demo? I''m looking to develop (much like smashbox''s scrolling images) a collection of thumbnails that you can scroll horizontally. I''ve got a non-prototype.js example but I wanted to check to see if anyone was closer than I to this. BTW, I will be finishing up my slider code shortly and

Rails/Ajax question from a newbie (to both)
I''m trying to get a Rico LiveGrid working, and I am a bit stuck on how to accomplish this. I have a page that successfully queries a controller and updates a <div> containing a table. I have two versions of the action; one uses the render_partial to return a rendered version of that table, and the other returns an XML-RPC document, and this is where I hit a snag. The Rico LiveGrid

Ampersand Heartburn
Greetings all. I''m using the Microsoft "NorthWind Traders" database "orders" table as test data for the Rico LiveGrid JavaScript. The problem I''m noticing is that some of the records in the "ShipName" field contain ampersands -- which for some reason are not being escaped by Rails. Rails does in fact automatically escape all of the other

Pretty Data Grid
Hey everyone, I''m looking for a good way to display a table of data in rails. I want something with scroll bars and resizable columns. Am I crazy for trying this? Is there a class or such already written that makes pretty data grids? -Josh ----------- Due to the recent increase in spam and falsely sent email, I now PGP Sign all of my outgoing mail to prove my identity. declaring draggable object that holds it position
Hi i posted this question earlier on how to create a droppable div(New to Ajax), and i have just realised that my code does work, however the function doesn''t work the way I expected it to, I would like my draggable to remain where it was dropped, currently I have a draggable div and a droppable div. I would like to try create a puzzle type game which has a set amount of droppables and an

Prototype Features?
Hi, I am new here and since I am looking for an Ajax framework (free or commercial). I am wondering if there is a features list on what prototypes can do as of current release?... scriptaculous accordion feature - Jump?
Trying the accordion feature as offered at: http://wiki.script.aculo.us/scriptaculous/show/accordion+feature The objective is to remove the "jump" reported in the Rico accordion feature. My demo of the scriptaculous feature, however has a noticeable jump when tested if FireFox. and IE Win. See: http://www.jimdavis.org/accord3.html Have I implemented this incorrectly? Jim

Why Ruby on Rails
Our company is mainly made up off application developers but we have a lot of web work coming up so we are deciding which route to take at the moment. We initially identfied ASP.NET 2.0 with the ATLAS AJAX framework because of the RAD features, easy to learn etc. I had read some stuff on ROR and our Boss who is open minded allowed me to create a sample application with ROR. He was impressed

AJAX calls don''t do validation
Chatting on the IRC channel today to people (thanks!) it came up that submitting a form remote bypasses the :validates... in the model. At least thats how it looks from my tests and what people said is the current behaviour. Is this the case? If so, is there a way around it or will it change in the future? I can imagine good reasons for the current behaviour. have fun, SteveC

Adtran TA 750 FXO Groundstart Mode
I am having a problem using the Adtran 750 FXO quad card with a Groundstart trunk line. I am able to receive calls on the trunk line, however dialing out is not working. The Adtran does not seem to be doing the signaling. Has anyone used the 750 FXO card in Groundstart mode? Any special configuration issues that I should be aware of? OnDrag callback. Is there such a thing?
I''ve asked this question before but posted it at the wrong place. Anyways, I was trying to find out if there is an OnDrag callback that I can use in DragDrop.js; something that is called as soon as the draggable is moved from its position, similar to the startDrag, cancelDrag and endDrag callbacks available in rico.js (www.openrico.org). If there is such a callback, could you please show

Rails Monitoring, reprise
Last week I posted a question about monitoring Rails applications. Basically, the java folks at my business cited one of their reasons for sticking with Java is it''s monitoring tools. After picking some ears, I found out that the one we''re looking at most is JBoss Operations Network. And I have to say, it''s pretty neat.

JSON not auto-evaluated
Hi, please consider this stripped down example: new Ajax.Request(''foo.php'', { onSuccess: function(t, json) { alert(json.myParam); } }); According to http://www.sergiopereira.com/articles/prototype.js.html, the second param is supposed to be the evaluated json object IF the X-JSON header is send in the response. I send the header in my script. However, the json var
