issue with EGD in openssh
There are a couple of issues regarding egd support in OpenSSH. 1) SIGPIPE is not ignored for the master listener daemon. I put the signal() call early on since it needs to be before get_random_bytes() is called but it could also be placed in the EGD version of get_random_bytes(). For some reason, with prngd I am getting SIGPIPE even though the prngd processes is not dying.

trivial axis question?
Hi, probably there's some parameter I don't know how to set. Using R 0.64 on a Sun sparc, I use the following command axis(1, at=xspos(times), labels=result, cex.axis=0.7) where result is sth. like c("May", "Jun" ,"Jul" ,"Aug", "Sep", ...) Now it plots it fine.. but when two xspos are too (?) close together the label gets dropped.

text works with the postscript device?
Dear R experts, R (0.63) does not seem to write me any text in a PS file. Trying x11() plot(12) text(5,5, "Hello World") works fine. Now I would like to have the same as a PS file. postscript("foobar.ps") plot(12) text(5,5,"Hello World") dev.off() Gives me a PS file with the plot -- but without the "Hello World". Why? I'm completely clueless. Ciao

Dear R gurus, I have some problems to compile R on Solaris 5.6. I wonder if somebody has a compiled version he could email me as tar.gz. Many thanks in advance. border option working in barplots? (R0.63)
Dear R users, How do you set the color of the border in barplots? On my screen barplot(tN, col='gray', border='yellow') looks like grey bars -- with black borders (not yellow). Trying it with a postscript device gives the same result. Cheers, Armin ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Department of Mathematics |

Authentication/Penalty disabled (socket mode=0) introduces constant 5 sec delays (2.27 on debian 9)
Hi, I hit a bizare problem with dovecot 2.2.7 on debian 9 with LMTP enabled and auth/penalty disabled as documented here : https://wiki.dovecot.org/Authentication/Penalty Use case : I run a swaks command to send an email to an exim4 that tries to make a callout to dovecot-lmtp. Authentication/Penalty disabled (socket mode=0) introduces constant 5 sec delays (2.27 on debian 9)
Hi, I can confirm that in the bad behavior, the 5 second delay occurs at each AUTH in our case. I think the configuration we have kill auth process at each end of AUTH (and fork a new one for next next AUTH). I think the "disable" flag is local to the process that is killed / respawned. A collegue of mine, Laurent Guerby, has found a workaround for us and it's findings seems

patch: Replace many usleep and some sleep calls with nanosleep
Description: Replace many usleep and some sleep calls with nanosleep. usleep is stated in its manual page as removed by POSIX. Contrary to its predecessors, nanosleep semantics is well defined. The replacement, which is mostly in drivers, is untested. Supplements http://bugs.debian.org/633791. Last-Update: Sat, 13 Aug 2011 14:04:48 +0300 Index:

use of R in big companies (references) & R-support esp in Germany
Dear R users, sorry for this general email and I am sure it has been asked way too many times. IT departements in big companies only want to support the big standards. Whatever big standards means apart from being expensive. We are in the process of trying to get a risk management project for a big conservative company in Germany. As part of the project we would use R to run simulations,

performance observation on redhat
Hi, I made an interesting observation using webservers (not just mongrel) under red hat enterprise linux ES release 4 (Nahant Update 5). Maybe this is helpful or somebody with deeper networking expertise can comment on this. Once client said that 1-2% of the response of our server were unacceptably slow (really huge 3s-21s). So I did more ab and httperf tests and notice that very few

introduction slides for beginners
Hi all, does anybody have slides for a 1 to 3 hour crash course into R, that I would be allowed to recycle to show a few people the light? On the R-website http://cran.r-project.org/other-docs.html I found several additional books, but no slides. It might be nice to add a page with slides, too. Thank you, -Armin

One host for forwarding only without keys
If you're using StrictSubnets, you will still be fine. StrictSubnets means that A will only use B's key (which C does not know) to send packets to B's statically configured subnets. C cannot impersonate B (as in, take its node name) because it would have to know B's private key to do so, and it cannot impersonate B's subnets because A is using StrictSubnets. The worst that C
