HTML Output from R
Task: To generate HTML output from R Details: I am trying to serve up HTML output from R. That is analyses or table of data from R saved as HTML output with formatted tables etc. This file is then called in a CGI script to output to user browser. The CGI script inspired by Mark J. Ray reads the HTML output, formats the header and footer and any graphic output if necessary. My question is: Has

Fisher's Exact Test
Appology in advance if this has been asked and answered. I am getting different answers using Fisher's exact test in the package ctest. For example: x_cbind(c(8, 22), c(31, 29)) fisher.test(x) Fisher's Exact Test for Count Data data: x p-value = 0.04024 alternative hypothesis: two.sided However, in SAS or other packages on the net the answer I get is p-value= 0.02664. Is this

R compiling on SOLARIS 2.6
We here at HGSI have a consultant doing some statistical work for us. HGSI bought and installed SAS, but our consultant insists that R and Rweb is a better solution. I do not know either package so I do not know, hence we are ditching SAS for R and Rweb. Any comments on this are welcom. Now for the real problem. Rweb is very expensive (time wise). The number of prereqs is way more than I thought

Question about Structure
Hello, Perhaps I am missing something here about the function structure() (Platfrm etc. in the end? > structure(1:6, dim= 2:3) [,1] [,2] [,3] [1,] 1 3 5 [2,] 2 4 6 > structure(1:6, dim= 3:2) [,1] [,2] [1,] 1 4 [2,] 2 5 [3,] 3 6 > structure(1:2, dim= 1:2) [,1] [,2] [1,] 1 2 > structure(1:2, dim= 2:1) [,1] [1,] 1 [2,]

axis() color from 1.5.1 to 1.6.1
I see that the definition of axis() has changed from 1.5.1 to 1.6.1 (as mentioned in the news file for 1.6.0). Axis now has a color argument to change it's color. However, the following command worked in 1.5.1: > axis(1, at = c(0.1, 0.2, 1, 5, 10), fg= gray(0.7), cex.axis = 0.8, col.axis= "red") #plot the axis in gray with annotations in red. The command no longer works in

3d Map with bars
Apologies in advance for the question. I am trying to draw a map of the US as a surface plot so that I would be able to drop bars on the different states (something like Uwe Ligges' scatterplot3d example 4). I am not sure where to start looking for such a beast. If anyone has any pointers, ideas, I will be grateful. TIA, Partha

A suggestion regarding multiple replies
Please don't take this the wrong way. There are a lot of extremely helpful people who subscribe to r-help. I was wondering if it is time to adopt a strategy a-la Splus help whereby people reply to the author and the author summarizes all the replies? Just a thought and have a good weekend. Partha

Odd behavior of strptime
The example from the help page for strptime has the following oddity: > dates <- c("02/27/92", "02/27/92", "01/14/92", + "02/28/92", "02/01/92") > times <- c("23:03:20", "22:29:56", "01:03:30", + "18:21:03", "16:56:26") > x <-

glmm.admb - bug and possible solution??
Dear Dr Skaug and R users, just discovered glmm.admb in R, and it seems a very useful tool. However, I ran into a problem when I compare two models: m1<-glmm.admb(survival~light*species*damage, random=~1, group="table", data=bm, family="binomial", link="logit") m1.1<-glmm.admb(survival~(light+species+damage)^2, random=~1, group="table", data=bm,

HDF5 support in R
Has anyone succeeded in using HDF5 in R? Using Solaris R version 0.64.0: 1) R was configured in this way: cd /home/westley/R/R-0.64.0 setenv LD_LIBRARY_PATH ${LD_LIBRARY_PATH}:/home/westley/HDF/lib ./configure \ --prefix=/home/westley/R \ --with-g77=/usr/calspan/gnu/bin/g77 \ --x-lib=/usr/openwin/lib \ --with-hdf5-libs=/home/westley/HDF/lib 2) But, when I attempt to

Rweb ... Using R over the Web
Over the past year I have been working on a Web interface to R, Rweb. Anyone that is interested in trying it out can point their browser at: http://www.math.montana.edu/Rweb The main Rweb page provides access to three versions of Rweb. A simple text entry form that returns output and graphs, a more sophisticated Javascript version that provides a multiple window environment, and a set of point

code works in R desktop but not iin RWeb - I got it working
Hi, I got this working. i had to get rid of an underscore in one of my variable names to work on RWeb. Thanks for your help though!! Natalie __________________ I think you have to be either honest or careful, since the code you submitted to Rweb is different with your former code! Why the condition was changed from "test<-subset(X, GRADE == 7 & Y_Q10A < 9)" to

anova on binomial LMER objects
Dear R users, I have been having problems getting believable estimates from anova on a model fit from lmer. I get the impression that F is being greatly underestimated, as can be seen by running the example I have given below. First an explanation of what I'm trying to do. I am trying to fit a glmm with binomial errors to some data. The experiment involves 10 shadehouses, divided between

Bug in Plot.table?
While plotting a table using plot(table), I am not able to suppress the axes with axes = FALSE. Am I missing something or is it a bug? For example: > x <- c(rep(0, 7), rep(1, 4), rep(5, 3), rep(6, 4), rep(8, 10)) > table(x) > plot(table(x), axes = FALSE) #does not suppress the axes > plot(table(x), frame.plot= FALSE, axes = FASLE) #deliberate spelling

Package Dependency
Lately, I see a dependency problem with R-3.2 systems. install.packages allows dependencies, but they are not installed so the install fails. I see this a lot with students who are able to install packages like ggplot2 but then can't load it because a dependency "stringi" is missing. Those students are generally using Windows, but today I reproduced the same on RedHat Linux with

(OT) System admin of Rweb at Tama University
Hi, Sorry to bother all, but recently I found an interesting application of Rweb (although there are many other fancier web applications of R). We can submit some simple code to Rweb to create an HTML page containing animations. Most of Rweb servers I can find are still using very old versions of R, and the one at Tama University is an exception (it is using R 2.12.1):

Question about Rweb
Greetings, I am working on creating an interactive website that will generate R-code for users based in the information they input on the site. Currently, the R-code can be generated and downloaded to be run locally on a computer with R. However, I have noticed a number of applications out there that instead submit the code directly to an R-web server. Some examples seem to be:

Textpattern and underscores
When using Textpattern with PHP Markdown Extra there is a problem with the textpattern tags. Tags like <txp:image id="42" /> are parsed, but tags like <txp:site_name /> that have an underscore are not. Any ideas how to deal with this?
