A couple problems installing 0.64 (under linux, redhat 5.2)
I'm encountering a couple problems configuring and making R 0.64 under
linux, redhat 5.2
These problems didn't occur when I build 0.63.2
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

compile problems on solairs 8
Hello,
I am having a problem compiling R versions 1.6.1 or .16.2 on a Solaris 8
machine. It sees to have problems with an X11 module. Here is the

compilation problem on linuxppc
I am trying to install R-.90 on a powermac (4400) running linuxppc-1999.
This is a variant of RedHat.

Then it reports that it can't find some .h files.

R-beta: compiling R-0.62.3 on SuSe Linux
On my RedHat 5.1 machine at the office I am happily using R
installed from Martyn Plummer's RPM's of R-62.3 for RH 5.1
At home I have SuSe Linux 5.3 on my PC and as RH 5.1 is libc6
based and SuSe 5.3 is still libc5 based the RH 5.1 RPM's do
not install and work on SuSe (even though they have a test
version of glibc).
So I downloaded R-0.62.3.tgz from www.ci.tuwien.ac.at/R and

Build problem with R-1.4.1 on AM64/Linux
Hi,
I get the following errors while building R-1.4.1 on AMD64/Linux (SuSE
9.1). R-2.0.1 compiles fine though. I'm building R-1.4.1 because I need to
install SNet (available at

The errors I get are:

Package Dependency
Lately, I see a dependency problem with R-3.2 systems.
install.packages allows dependencies, but they are not installed so
the install fails.
I see this a lot with students who are able to install packages like
ggplot2 but then can't load it because a dependency "stringi" is
missing. Those students are generally using Windows, but today I
reproduced the same on RedHat Linux with

Question about Rweb
Greetings,
I am working on creating an interactive website that will generate R-code for users based in the information they input on the site. Currently, the R-code can be generated and downloaded to be run locally on a computer with R. However, I have noticed a number of applications out there that instead submit the code directly to an R-web server. Some examples seem to be:

R 1.90 make problem with /usr/X11R6/include/X11/Xutil.h on suse linux 9.1?
This is probably a Suse specific problem and not a bug in R, but I'm
reporting it in case it's useful for someone to know about....
Trying to compile R1.9.0 from source on a standard Suse 9.1 install
(athlon in a shuttle sn41g2).
configure seems fine but the Suse X11R6 Xlib.h might be toxic.
In case it helps, here's the sad end to the make output. I can post the
Xlib.h if that

Rweb: how to use source()
I cannot discover how to set or find the working directory in
Rweb, so that I can source() a file from the server. The file I
source() must refer to a data file in its directory.
setwd() does not do anything, and getwd() says that the working
directory is in /var/www/cgi-bin/ (on Linux).

what folder to run write_PACKAGES in?
I set up a local repo for testing packages. My packages are not
showing up from the repository when viewed by Linux clients. I suspect
this is a web administrator/firewall issue, but it could be I created
the repo wrongly. I am supposed to run write_PACKAGES separately in
each R-version folder. Right?
Maybe other novices can use these scripts, if they are not wrong :)

packages with FORTRAN code
Recent sensible changes to the dynload mechanism have made an old
problem resurface: how should we deal with packages which contain
Fortran code and may need to be linked against additional libraries
such as -lf2c?
The current consensus is that extra Fortran libraries maybe needed are
handled via the make variable FLIBS, and that `-lf2c' or `-lg2c' are
added by default if g77 is used.

S/R/RWeb/ODBC
I'm looking for an optimal approach to access Oracle databases via RWeb
applications. I'm new to R but familiar with programming functions and web
pages for the S+ Statserver. I'm now going through the motions of migrating
S+/Statserver applications to R/RWeb as a feasability exercise. I can access
databases using ODBC directly in R or S, and using Statserver, but I have
not succeeded

now available: RwebWin
I ported Jeff Banfield's Rweb (http://www.math.montana.edu/Rweb/) to
Windows. In the process, I dropped some things (non-JavaScript version,
Rweb modules and data sets), but also simplified the installation process by
removing the dependency on NetPBM. A Ghostscript dependency remains,
however.

How are you? I have a quick question.... I have code that works perfectly
with R desktop, but does not work with RWeb. Could you please tell me how
to modify the code below so it will work with RWeb?

#Subset the txt file to only include certain values
