samba-4.1.19: resolving local unix group failes when there exists a local unix user with same name
Hi, after upgrading samba from 4.1.17 to 4.1.19 on OpenSuSE 13.2, any shares offered by this machine can nolonger be accessed, when these shares contain an entry "force group" which specifies a local unix group and when there exists a unix user with the same name. Here's an excerpt from smb.conf: [FactWork] comment = FactWork-Downloadportal path =

Solaris 9 and secondary group info from LDAP
Hi, we are running several test installations of Samba 3 on Solaris 8 and Solaris 9. On Solaris 9, there is a strange behaviour in terms of getting secondary group information from LDAP. With later revisions of patch 112960, only /etc/group is interpreted, but there is no query on the LDAP server for (Unix-) group information. Here is a short overview about our results: common configuration:

3.0.2rc1, LDAP, Solaris 9 and secondary group problem - Bug 395?
Hi, we have tested Samba 3.0.0 and 3.0.1 with LDAP-Support (--with-ldap) on Solaris 8 and it worked fine. The machine authenticates against an OpenLDAP server. Patch 108993-23 is applied and we use native Sun LDAP client modules. On Solaris 9 we ran into problems with secondary groups. Users cannot access files if the rights are based on a secondary group and if this information is stored on

Solaris 9 and secondary group info from LDAP (Bug 395) - PATCH AVAILABLE from Sun
Hi, finally the compatibility problems between the LDAP libraries from Sun and OpenLDAP on Solaris 9, known as bug# 395, are solved. With Patch-ID 112960-22 everything is working as it should. Tests were OK for a Samba PDC with LDAP backend and a Samba fileserver with "security = ADS", both on Solaris 9 with native Sun LDAP client. Secondary group information is requested from the LDAP

Adding Printer Drivers for existing Printers (Win2000, WinNT x86)
Hi List! I've got a problem that I've read about on the web several times now, regarding the uploading of printer drivers to the samba [print$] share. When I try to set the printer driver for an existing printer (HP LaserJet 6L enabled with CUPS) the W2K wizard let me select the driver *.inf file but when finishing I get the well known error message: "Unable to install Intel,

nut & SNMP: official IANA Enterprise-ID
Hello, I am in the process of enhancing the work of Luiz Angelo Daros de Luca (https://github.com/luizluca/nut-snmpagent). For that matter, nut needs an official IANA enterprise-ID. Currently Luiz is using the enterprise-ID from his employer, which is obviously not a good idea. Does anybody mind if I apply for a ent.-ID for myself and assign nut a sub-ID from my ID given by IANA? Any better

omindex patch
Attached is my rather largish omindex.cc patch with ChangeLog. It needs autoreconf to update configure and the Makefiles. Note that unrar is not patent infected, only rar, the compressor. I've put some AC_PATH_PROG checks into configure for all helpers. The patch is not yet complete. 2006-08-18 15:13:32 Reini Urban <reinhard.urban at avl.com> omega-0.9.6b: * omindex.cc: last_mod as

Antwort: Re: Windows 10 and Java Applications on a samba share
Hi Nils, > one more information. > This behaviour also happens on a WIndows 2012 R2 Server System. if this behavior happens also on win2012r2, then the problem may be linked to the SMB version of the protocol. Win7 support SMB version up to SMBv2.x, as does win2k8r2. On the other hand, Win10, Samba4 and Win2k12 supports SMB up to SMBv3.x. And protocol version is negotiated during
