Does anyone on the list have experience with building RODBC from source
on a Linux box for use with DB2?
I am using (all from source):

SQL Server via DBI/ODBC configuration
I have followed the cookbook on http://wiki.rubyonrails.org/database-support/ms-sql
but am having problems with the rails part. I can connect to the
database using sqsh so I think all the freetds plumbing is good. When
I try to connect to the db with a rake db:migrate or just using script/
console I get this error:
>> Client.find(:first)

RODBC
Dear R-fans,
My database access package RODBC is now available on CRAN.
For those who have never used it, odbc is a database and
platform independant API which provides an SQL interface
to a large number of database engines. The databases supported
include not only SQL based RDBMS but also CSV files, foxbase,
dBase, MSExcel etc.
ODBC has been promoted mainly by Microsoft and this is where the

ActiveRecord: Getting table names
How do i get (discover) all the table names within a database using
ROR/ActiveRecord ?
I wish to build a webapp that connects to a database on the fly,
discovers tables and column names etc and then can show data or build a
report based on user selection. The ActiveRecord API doesnt seem to give
any method for getting table names.

IBM db2 Express-C does not include support. You get what you pay for (and db2 Express-C is free)

connection DB2 and R (R under linux)
Hi evryone,
I would like to access to DB2 on R on a linux machine (R and DB2 are on 2 pc
linux )
I have read on the R-archive that RODBC work with DB2, but it is not clear
for me, if it's only for R on a windows machine or if it's work also for R
under linux ?
My data base administrator say that it will not work with linux ?
Is it true ?
Is there another solution ?
Thanks for your help.

db2 is running out of shared memory
Db2 is running our of shared memory.
The environment:
Virtual computers running under VMware ESXi hypervisor version 5.5.
Two different virtual machines, each running CentOS 5, db2 express C,
and Apache/PHP and vmware tools. The machines each have 8 GB of memory,
4 processors, and a couple of hundred GB of disk space available.
Everything is running on the 64 bit versions. The actual

RODBC sqlSave with DB2
I am running R version 2.8.1 on Windows XP OS.
This works fine. (Data.frame dta is created with records from the DB2
table.):
sql <- "select * from storage.testappend_slt order by uut"
dta <- sqlQuery(channel,sql)
But when I try to append records (from data.frame newdta) to the same DB2
table. I get an error:
sqlSave(channel, newdta, tablename = storage.testappend_slt, append

RODBC sqlSave does not append the records to a DB2 table
I am running R version 2.9.2 on Windows XP OS with RODBC version Version:
1.3-0.
Has anyone out there in the R user community successfully appended records
to a DB2 table on a remote database using the sqlSave function in the RODBC
package? (or by any other means from R?)
I posed a similar question a few months ago and unfortunately, did not
receive a response. I was hoping recent upgrades to

IBM Article: DB2 on Rails
I often forward IBM DeveloperWorks articles about RoR to this list.
This is a new well-written ''Intermediate'' article using DB2 with Rails:

Hope this helps.

Trouble implementing ov_callbacks, endless loop calling seek_func
Hello list,
I've been having a tough time adding windows resource support to my ogg
vorbise decoder, although I think I am close. Basically when I call
ov_open_callbacks(), it doesn't ever return and repeatedly calls my
seek_func.
I'm hoping it is something obvious, but I can't see why my seek_func is
being called endlessly. If the file is seekable, I should return 0, right?

skip on error
Dear all,
I have a different data sets and I am doing some calculations over time,
For that every data set is split into junks based on the time stamps
so one data set has like 10 timestamps.
There is also the case that one data set has less than 10 timestamps.
In my code I was doing the following
lapply(Datasource,analysis_for_one_data_source)
