libraries; Fortran / -lf2c / Slackware woes
Jim,
you should ask questions like these on R-devel.
There are more proficient Linux gurus on there than me [that's why I CC:].

MacOS X: Packages KernSmooth and cluster won't compile
Hello,
I'm using R 1.40 on MacOS X X.1.2 (installed via the fink package manager).
To upgrade my installed packages, I tried to use update.packages() today.
All went well for most packages, with the exception of KernSmooth and
cluster. In both cases, libraries were not found although I think they are
present.
Here's what happened:

Can someone explain why smbmount under Samba-2.0.3 (compiled under GNU/Linux
Slackware, kernel 2.2.5, egcc 2.90.29) compiles smbmount, however, when I
run smbmount, it's really smbclient? If I can't use smbmount, then I can't
mount my NT server. smbsh isn't worth crap, it always segfaults on me. I'm
running libc5.5.46. Can anyone help me?

R-alpha: thoughts on batch and fortran
Batch:
For me, batch in its present state is broken and useless. My primary
need for batch is to produce a final output file of a session after I
have worked out a sequence of procedures. I save my instructions in a
file that I can source, then run it in batch to have a copy of input
and output together. (If there was a log file (or dribble), this
problem would be solved.) At present, there are

Problems compiling R65.0 (PR#262)
Hi,
I appear to have a slight problem compiling R0.65.0 under Linux
(slackware) using g77. By simply typing configure then make, I obtain
a binary which when "ldd" does not contain the f2c library. I
therefore cannot load any libraries containing fortran code (I obtain
unresolved symbol messages from R.X11 and an unable to load shared
library from dyn.load(file)).
If I change the

R-beta: R beta 0.49
I reported bugs in "rhyper" and the TASKS.OLD file claims that they have been
fixed. But R continues to get stuck (the prompt never comes back) if I use
rhyper with N1, N2, n large, for example "rhyper(5,200,250,60)".

Megaraid SAS driver failing in Xen-3.3.0 but was working in Xen-3.2.2-rc3
On Xen-3.3.0, domain0 Megaraid SAS (SAS 1068 controller) driver is not loading correctly if vtd support in Xen is enabled.
It fails at the point of initializing firmware.
I wasn''t seeing this error with Xen-3.2.2-rc3 (Unstable version), though with vtd disabled in Xen-3.3.0, it is working.
Looks like a degrade problem.
Any clues?
Thx,
Venkat

Xen-3.2.1 VT-d Support (NOT SURE WHETHER IT''S A BUG OR ...)
After building Xen-3.2.1 I could successfully boot into it if I avoid giving vtd=1 as the boot parameter.
If I pass vtd=1 as the boot parameter to xen, the system hangs while booting.
The system hangs after the following messages

Hello,
I''m also seeing this exact same problem. I''ve posted on xen-users, but did
not get an answer. Venkat seems to be experiencing the same problem as me. I
have the latest BIOS for my motherboard DQ35JO. (BIOS ver 933) I''m running a
Q6600 as well. It hangs at "Brought up 4 CPUs." I''ve tried all sorts of
combinations of Xen versions and kernels to
