readline installation [Re: R-beta: ....]]
I think, we should give more hints on installing / using readline with R. Maybe there could be one ASCII file README-readline-Installation added to the FTP sites *and* to R-0.61.3.tar.gz explaining some the things Peter Dalgaard just said on R-help. I agree with Jan that it's a pity for non-programmer-hackers if they won't be able to use readline (most probably, these are the ones

Devices question
Are the old "Devices" printer() and crc() still available? I am running R 0.63.3 on an SGI O2 with irix6.2 remotely from a dumb terminal at home. It would be nice to have some graphics. The dumb terminal (an old 8086 I think PC) does have a Tek graphics card if I need to use it. Any help/advice would be appreciated. -- Michael Gass Department of Mathematics phone: 320 363-3090

Per-user "Seen" flags on public folder
Dear all, sorry to bother the list again, I have a small configuration issue again with public (shared) folders. These folders should have per-user Seen flags, so I configured: namespace { type = public separator = . prefix = public. location = maildir:/var/mail/public:INDEX=%u/public subscriptions = no list = children } But this only seems to work with my account (presumably as I

When trying grep(), I get the following: > grep("[a-z]", letters) Error in grep(pattern, x, ignore.case, extended, value) : POSIX regular expressions not available I can't find any pointer in the installation kit. How can I configure R to make it "avaliable"? I run R in an Irix 5.3 system. Thanks in advance! --

Once more: Compiling on SGI Irix 5.3
I forgot: "make docs" for LaTeX doesn't collect any information about the functions. So in Man.dvi the appendix C is empty. A Bug?? -- ====================================================================== Hubert Palme Bergische Universitaet-Gesamthochschule Wuppertal Computing Center D-42097

Another compatibility problem S => R
Hello, after the line cat("%",as.character(as.name(match.call())), "\n%\n", file=fi, append=T) R complains about Error in as.name(x) : character argument required Is it sufficient to delete as.name()? After doing that, R complains Error: comparison is possible only for vector types Don't know which function call. Can you give me a hint how to debug it? There

R-beta: package ported from S to R
Hello, I'm trying to port the S package "print.display" to R. The porting procedure seemed to work, but when I say library(print.display) or library("print.display"), then none of the functions is available. May be, it's because of the dot in the package name? What could have happened? The help information is available. BTW: How can I look up wether the package is

Command line not responding
Running 9.0-Stable on an i386. Whenever I type a command at the prompt I get the output /usr/local/lib/libintl.so.9: Undefined symbol "_ThreadRuneLocale" and nothing else - the command will not run. Just the above output. Commands like "ls" and "exit" work, but not much else. This happends whether I am logged in a user or as root. Cannot even halt the system from

Guest-domain has no login
Hi *, as this is my first post I want to say hello to everybody. Well, and unfortunatly I''ve already got a question for you: I''ve installed a guest domain (OS: CentOS 4) on my xen-machine and it''s para-virtualised (just to provide the information ;) ). After the installation and mount the image containing the guest to copy the necessary modules for the xen-kernel,

Authentication problem with samba 3.3.4 on AIX 5.3
Hello all, we currently do have a problem with samba 3.3.4 on AIX 5.3. We have set up the samba system to integrate in our AD Domain. Integration was successfull (net ads join), wbinfo executes with parameters -ugt without any problems. Our smb.conf content follows at the end of this mail. We have defined just one share as follows: [smbtest] writeable = yes path = /gpfs/fbb/ls/cip valid users

Squid3 on CentOS 6.6: IPv6 PTR endianess
Hello, I'm running a Squid cache (Version 3.1.10) on CentOS 6.6 as a forward proxy which is reachable over a global IPv6 address. For whatever reason, Squid tries to perform PTR lookups on the client's IPv6 address. The weird thing is, that Squid seems to struggle with the "endianess" of the IPv6 address blocks. For example: My current client IP is

Monitoring
Hi, I have some trouble with the Monitor() application. I start and stop it via the management interface, giving no special parameters except the channel name. What happens is: - if I specify WAV as the format, the resulting files are exactly 44 bytes big and contain nothing at all - if I specify GSM as the format, the resulting files are of size 0. I did not request mixing of the files or

R-beta: Printing
Hello, may be I'm stupid, but I don't understand the documentation concerning printing. 1. How can I print a (nice) listing of any (non graphic) results? 2. What is the difference between "print(object)" and "object" (the direct call)? 3. Which commands are concerned by the "printcmd" option (resp. how can I print PostScript graphics directly)? Another
