3.0.2 AFS login problem, Solaris 2.5.1
I've been beating myself senseless trying to build OpenSsh 3.0.1 on Solaris 2.5.1 and get AFS login working. The symptoms of the problem are: sshd builds (used --with-afs and -with-kerberos4 - there is no PAM on this box), accepts connections from non-AFS users, but does not accept a connection from an AFS user; the user sees "permission denied" after entering the password. Missing -lc for compilation on AIX (R 1.1.0) (PR#571)
Hi, Kudos to all who've worked on getting 1.1 out. It installs cleanly on Linux and Sun. But AIX, of course, is a problem... When linking shared libs, the symbols from libc.a are not found. I apologize for not investigating this further at the moment - they may not be properly or not all exported from R.bin. Fix: I've added ' -lc' to SHLIBLDFLAGS in Makeconf and

Almost succesfull build on AIX
Hi, Kurt Hornik and myself have an almost successful build of R on AIX including dynamic loading of libraries ... which fails make check :-( Anyway, as we have no AIX experience at all, maybe somebody else knows what's going on. Here's the problem: > 1/0 [1]INF > is.finite(1/0) [1] TRUE R was built using the flags included below, gcc version is 2.7.2. Does anybody with

Missing -lm for tcltk (R 1.1.0, AIX 4.3) (PR#573)
Hi, ok, AIX 4.3 insists on being different. I can't compile --with-tcltk out of the box. I have to add '-lm' to the SHLIBLDFLAGS manually after configure. Which brings up the question: Can you use TK_LIBS instead of TK_XLIBSW during configure? Excerpt from tkConfig.sh on my machine: # Linker switch(es) to use to link with the X11 library archive.

R-beta: R-0.62.3 is released
I have just put R-0.62.3.tgz and R-0.62.2-0.62.3.diff.gz into the FTP area at Auckland. As usual, do not fetch it from there unless absolutely urgent, because of the NZ Internet billing system. The files should get mirrored to the main CRAN site in Vienna tonight and the rest of CRAN within days. [And, may I add, the NZ connection is slower than a sloth in a tarpit. I had turnaround times of up

AIX patch for openssh-3.7.1p2
There are a couple of bugs in the openssh-3.7.1p2. The aix_setauthdb function does not work with other types of authentication such as AFS/DFS. The loginfailed test in configure is not correct. Also, AIX can use the wtmp logging which I added in configure. Attached is the patch. R-beta: trouble compiling 0.62.3 on SunOS 4.1.4: lgamma conflicts
I've recently tried to get 0.62.3 up on our Suns (4.1.4, using gcc; I'm also having trouble with a Solaris 2.6 compile but I haven't given up hope on that one yet) -- the last compile I did was 0.61.1, which worked smoothly. Running ./configure --prefix=/usr/local/apps/R/R-0.62.3 [--with-g77] (tried both with and without g77, eventually get to the same place), I get a conflict

Authentication problem with samba 3.3.4 on AIX 5.3
Hello all, we currently do have a problem with samba 3.3.4 on AIX 5.3. We have set up the samba system to integrate in our AD Domain. Integration was successfull (net ads join), wbinfo executes with parameters -ugt without any problems. Our smb.conf content follows at the end of this mail. We have defined just one share as follows: [smbtest] writeable = yes path = /gpfs/fbb/ls/cip valid users

R-beta: R make problem
I've just got a new workstation with Solaris 5.6 and seem to be having some R 0.61.1 installation problems that did not occur in 5.5. If anyone can see the problem I would appreciate suggestions. Following is output from make at the point of failure. TIA Paul Gilbert ... gcc -g -I../include -c relop.c gcc -g -I../include -c saveload.c In file included from

R-beta: survival4
Hmm... I have the same problem on hpux10.20. I put the additional libs into a subdir called contrib, and R INSTALL from there. I have R-0.61.1 Alpha Dec21 1997. Without restored data they work OK. R-beta: R-0.62.1 under Digital Unix
I am grateful for the advice of Douglas Bates on my earlier problem in making R-0.62.1, but I'm afraid I'm still having problems.... I have been installing the various updates to R for quite some time on my alpha, and it is only now that I have been having really severe problems. The three or 4 versions before 0.61.1 installed without error. For 0.61.1 I needed to install GNU make. For

R-beta: R with gnuwin32
I have been using R under Linux for more than a year and I think that it is great. Last week, I downloaded the binary Ms Windows version. I wanted to test it for my students. Our labs are under Bill Gates. I am not happy but I can do nothing. R worked. But, I could not use the dyn.load command with some dll built with one of the ports of gcc for windows 95/nt (I used the ecgs-mingw32 ports
