Checking the existence of a file
Is there a platform-independent way of checking in R whether a
given file exists in the user's filespace?
(so in a unix system, can you check within R whather, say,
/homef/jonm/thisfile
exists)
Thanks

debugger not recognizing C routine names
Something seems to have changed with the debugger
option since I used it last,
unless I've forgotten something really stupid
(much more likely) . The
debugger doesn't seem to recognise the names of C routines

Error is dynamivally loaded code
Changing from 0.64.1 to 0.64.2 is causing some dynamically-loaded code to
crash with the message:

Overwriting source file leaves destination full of zeros
Hi,
I'm a little confused over what I'm seeing when a source file is
overwritten whilst an rsync is in progress. Instead of the destination
file being truncated, or an error being raised and the destination file
removed, I get a file of the correct length, but mostly full of nulls
where previously there were none. An example is shown here:
> ls -l big_file

Hello hackers,
I seem to be having some trouble compiling the top of the llvm
CVS tree... Is someone working on something involving IPModRef.cpp
and the data structure graph? I have attached a make -k log.

Hi All,
I asked on IRC but didn''t have everything organized and most people
seemed busy. Hoping someone can see what I''m missing here.
I''m trying to create a network module, used similar to the ''users''
configuration described in the Best Practices document. I have a users
module which has that and it works with similar syntax to below. If I

BoF: Raising Next Generation of LLVM Developers
Dear community,
We are trying to setup a BoF ( Raising Next Generation of LLVM
Developers, http://sched.co/8Yzs).
In our academic-oriented environments the main work force is
students: undergrads, grads or PhD (rarely postdocs). Often we have
limited time to bring somebody up to speed and we have to it in a
productive and motivating for both parties way. I believe most of you

how to pass external parameters to an R script
How, if possible, can I run an R script, from command line, passing external parameters just like
I can run a C main program passing parameters:
# Cprog p1 p2 p3
Cprog can access its arguments (p1,p2,p3) through the built-in structures "argv" and "argc".
Since R is built on C language I would expect the same feature to be available with R scripts as well ... ?

Report of incompatability [pxelinux] - (long ago fixed)
I've been using pxelinux for automated installs, and it works well. I'm
using it on SUSE Linux 8.1, and it has been going well until recently.
The TFTP, NFS, and DHCP servers are all on the same system.
It uses PXELINUX 1.69 (part of SYSLINUX 1.62 I believe). It installed
systems to my slimline Compaq Deskpro Pentium IIIs just fine. Recently,
I ran it on a Compaq Deskpro Pentiums
