R-alpha: R-0.49 Patch #1
This patch corrects the broken postscript graphics driver. If you have already done it by hand ignore this. Apply this patch within the R-0.49 directory. The patch is also at the auckland.ftp site and soon at mirrors. R-alpha: Postscript bug ...
Jeez I dunno - it compiles perfectly and you guys get excited just because it doesn't work :-) I have to admit to being baffled about what happened (I'm SURE this was working not long ago), but here is a quick fix. The problem is in the function "GetCharInfo" in the file src/unix/PostScript.c. The fix is to change the statement if(nchar < 0) return 0; to if(nchar <

R-beta: Encapsulated Postscript output with R-0.49
I've noticed that the postscript files produced by R-0.49 come up inverted in my postscript previewer. Also, they do not behave like encapsulated postscript files so they can't be imported into LaTeX documents. If I remove lines with page-oriented commands like "%%Page", "%%Orientation", "\bp" and "\ep", the resulting files seem to behave like

R-alpha: system() ok -- is.R() function
Martin Your revisions to my S--R compatability code suggest that tempfile() is in R after 0.49. I don't find that to be the case. It requires code from Friedrich Leisch which still has to be added as of 0.50 alpha3. as.POSIXct Bug when used with POSIXlt arg and tz= arg (PR#3646)
Tracking down this bug was joint work with Jermoe Asselin (jerome at hivnet.ubc.ca) and Patrick Connolly (p.connolly at hortresearch.co.nz). We collectively were able to determine that this is a problem in both Windows 2000 and in Linux and by testing it in our three time zones that it seems to be daylight savings time related. Conversion of POSIXlt datetimes to POSIXct appears to have problems.

fecha primera versión de R
Muy interesante. Gracias Carlos. Estaba indagando en los orígenes, más que nada como referencia en un documento, pero dan ganas de probar la R 0.49. Creo que la primera que instalé fue R 1.2.0, en un curso que dieron en la universidad allá por el 2000. ¿y vosotros? Saludos El 13/06/13 15:12, Carlos J. locator(n=1) or (n=500) as S-plus ?
There's a non-compatibility between R and S-plus with the default argument of the locator() function. R has locator(n=1) S-plus has locator(n=500, type="n", noclick=F) S's default is ``better'' I think, insofar as it means in 99% of the cases ``user clicks <left> as many times as wanted and then clicks <right> to end'' Ross Ihaka and his grad

sshd (openssh 3.7.1p1) dies during login on Solaris 8 system with SRM installed
I have compiled ssh 3.7.1p1 using gcc and am trying to get it to run on our Solaris 8 systems running Sun's SRM system. With existing users it is fine, but with a new user, the user can not ssh in on the first login, they get the message from SRM that no lnode has been created. I put sshd in debug and found that it SEG's here: debug3: mm_sshpam_free_ctx: waiting for

Incorrect DST time changes in DateTimeClasses
Can anyone please shed any light on why R DateTimeClasses give weird times for when daylight saving time information changes, and which aren't consistent with the OS? Example: Expected result: in New Zealand DST stopped (NZDT -> NZST) at 03:00 NZDT on 2010-04-04, as confirmed by the OS time zone info (OS X 10.8.2): zdump -v /etc/localtime /etc/localtime Sat Apr 3 13:59:59 2010 UTC

Ross Ihaka's reflections on Common Lisp and R
