Drobo
Here''s another product which has removed the hassle out of disk management: <http://www.drobo.com/products_demo.aspx> I wonder if they (Data Robotics) will make the Drobo work with ZFS once Leopard is out (since it supports HFS+)? ---8<--- Data Robotics has just introduced Drobo, the world?s first storage robot. openssh-2.9.9p2 subscript violation problems with ctype macros
In several places, openssh-2.9.9p2 passes a 'char' value to a ctype macro like 'isdigit'. This has undefined behavior on hosts with signed characters, if the character value happens to be negative. For example, isdigit('\200') expands to an array access that is a subscript error on hosts with signed characters where '\200' == -128. This leads to incorrect results,

Asterisk@Home, AMP, and Broadvoice
Egad, not again with Broadvoice! Anyhow, I recently installed AAH and configured my TDM11B and got that and some SIP phones working. I still have some issues to work out, etc, but my current problem is Broadvoice. I have checked out all of the online resources, including the recent list exchange about the recent changes made by Broadvoice. However, the one thing I have found to be consitent in

[PATCH] Support symlinks in scp of openssh 2
I'm fond of the "-a" (archive) option of cp, and I'm a heavy user of scp, so I guess it's inevitable that I would eventually add support for "-a" to scp. :-) Actually, it's a "-L" flag for preserving symlinks, and a "-a" flag that is shorthand for "-Lpr". Please let me know if I'm not doing this right.... I made a great

libVorbis 1.2.2 release candidate announcement
Xiph.Org is pleased to announce a release candidate of libvorbis-1.2.2. This is primarily a bugfix release to push out many fixes, some of which have been in SVN for a long time but haven't warranted their own release mainly due to being picked up asynchronously by distributions. Aside from the arcane bugfix list in the SVN logs, this release includes a few new bugfixes that languished due

Compiz 0.8 branched
I just branched for 0.8, since Danny told me there was no reason not to. There are still some bugs to work out of course, but since development has been quiet lately, I figure it's time to branch so that we can: 1. Eventually get to the next stable release 2. Allow people to work more freely on master On my personal list of things I want to see working better before a 0.8 release, I have

SYSLINUX 1.74 released -- bug fix release
I tracked down the source of the "invalid kernel image" in 1.73 -- it turns out that in two different places I was accessing word-sized variables as dwords :( Consequently, SYSLINUX would reject valid kernels. PXELINUX/ISOLINUX are unaffected. Thus, SYSLINUX 1.74 is out. Expect a 1.75-pre1 quite soon. I'm working on a rewrite using 32-bit code from the very beginning, which

.ssh files
I burned an .iso cd of the home dir of a server, my .ssh files are there, but if I restore from the cd using rsync -azurvp /mnt/cdrom/.ssh/* ~/.ssh the permissions seem screwy. I'm trying to use my id_dsa ssh key to login to other servers, but they don't acknowledge the key because the "permission are incorrect". Any Suggestions? Did i screwup, by using mkisofs &

source switching using two servers.
Hello, I'm trying to get some automated stream switching between a handful of sources on a private icecast server to one public icecast server relaying one of the sources depending on the time of day, updated by a script. The private server is for the handful of sources to test their stream, monitor and such. both the private and public icecast config files are fairly straight forward.

PLEASE DO NOT MIRROR SAMBA.ANU.EDU.AU WEB PAGES
I've noticed that after my appeal for mirrors last week several people started mirroring samba.anu.edu.au without asking first. Don't do this! It causes the problem of network costs to go up enormously. For example, today we had about 150k hits on the server. About 60% of these were from web robots mirroring the site! The robots only do a "HEAD" on each page but that costs us
