Conflict between LDAP and Privilege Separation?
Hi all.
OpenSSH_4.1p1, OpenSSL 0.9.7g 11 Apr 2005 on Solaris 8 using host-based
authentication.
With "PrivilegeSeparation yes" and "UsePAM no" everything works as
desired. If I enable PAM, I am able to connect, but just before it
gives me a shell, it disconnects. If I leave PAM enabled and disable
PrivilegeSeparation, it works.
Is this a current limitation, or is there

No "ssh -X hostname" doesn't work.
But when you "export DISPLAY=..." it works!?
I set the the Display Hack so that I can see my IP with "env" or "echo

Fileserver performance tests
Hi all,
i want to replace a bunch of Apple Xserves with Xraids and HFS+ (brr) by Sun x4200 with SAS-Jbods and ZFS. The application will be the Helios UB+ fileserver suite.
I installed the latest Solaris 10 on a x4200 with 8gig of ram and two Sun SAS controllers, attached two sas-jbods with 8 SATA-HDDs each und created a zfs pool as a raid 10 by doing something like the following:

Multiple homedir entries in smb.conf ?
Hi list,
is it possible to add multiple homedir templates to smb.conf ?
I have a running linuxsystem where homefilesets are mounted
from different windows-servers to subdirs like:
/home/server01/home/USERNAME
/home/server02/home/USERNAME
/home/server03/home/USERNAME
The users come via winbind. In the smb.conf the entry for the
homedir:
template homedir = /home/%U
So how is it possible to

Net Join Samba 4 to Samba 3 PDC?
Hi,
I have a retro LAN running things like Sun SPARCclassics, Ultra1s, Win98
and WinXP. I decided to standardize most of the Sun boxes on the latest
versions of OpenBSD that support their architectures (5.9 for Sun4c &
Sun4m, 7.4 for Sun4u). I have a Debian 7 server with RAIDs to store all the
packages, configs, games, etc. I like to use Samba to transfer the files
back and forth between the

e2fsprogs 1.36-rc1 released on SourceForge
I've just made e2fsprogs 1.36-rc1 available on Sourceforge:
http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=2406&package_id=2383&release_id=295092
Fedora Core 3 users will be strongly encouraged to upgrade to e2fsprogs
1.36, since it has numerous bug fixes to some of the Fedora-specific
enhancements to e2fsprogs --- in particular, supporting on-line resizing
feature using the

e2fsprogs & endian questions
Hey all. I'm not on the list, so can you please cc me? Thanks.
Anyhow, I've got two questions. First, the website says that the 'latest'
e2fsprogs are needed. Does this mean 1.23-WIP is needed or will 1.22 do?
I'm assuming it's just a generally good idea. Second, has anyone tested
this on a BE machine? I'd like to use this on my PPC. I don't mind testing

e2fsprogs and ext3
One of my servers appears to have some filesystem corruption. I'm running
Red Hat 6.2 with kernel 2.2.19pre6 and ext3 0.5e. That server currently
has e2fsprogs-1.20-WIP-0117 installed. Is it OK to upgrade to the latest
e2fsprogs (i.e.: 1.22) prior to running the e2fsck on the filesystem?

stupid question on e2fsprogs
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1
Right now, every release of e2fsprogs, I do the following:
./configure --enable-elf-shlibs && make && make install
rm config.cache && rm config.status
./configure && make install-libs
Are these two seperate steps necessary? Seems to me that I had a problem
installing something or other and it suggested the first line.
