[SOT] Virtualising Asterisk
I know a lot has changed over the past couple of years, and even monthly, and that Asterisk running within a virtualised environment is very happy indeed. If one would only be using SIP/IAX would Xen/KVM be the best solution ? / or perhaps VServer/LXC maybe advantageous due to binary hashing. Your thoughts would be very welcome. -- Thanks, Phil -------------- next part -------------- An HTML

tcrules' SIP HELPER is not helping
Hello Asterisk sits in a Vserver guest (192.168.3.9) on the firewall. I can''t seem to get the sip helper to mark the SIP packets though. I have an ftp client on a different Vserver guest on the firewall. If I put ftp in the HELPER column of tcrules I can mark those packets. With sip in the HELPER column though nothing happens. Attached is a "shorewall dump > dump.txt"

LXC and Dahdi
Howdy, I am playing around with asterisk within an LXC container on Ubuntu 11.04. I have asterisk (1.4.42) running fine, but want access to dahdi_dummy for timing (meetme). I have dahdi installed on the "host", and dahdi_dummy is loaded: root at astnorth:/# ls -ltr /dev/dahdi total 0 crw-rw---- 1 root root 196, 250 2011-06-08 13:59 transcode crw-rw---- 1 root root 196, 253

web frontend for managing libvirt servers
Hi all, I know that redhat has some web based GUI for managing libvirt clusters, however, I am not having purchased redhat :-) Is there any good open-source web frontend you can recommend for managing your libvirt instances? Ideally with VNC/spice support for connecting to the remote? I know of proxmox, which we used so far for our openvz containers, but I am about to migrate to KVM (and

[ruby-libvirt] who's using it
Hey all, I would like to know who / what project is using this binding. So I could learn the API a bit easier than reading through the rough rdoc-based API documentation, which is not really helpful to me, as I do not know the C API yet either. my intention is, to some day, be able to create a Rails web app for managing libvirt hosts (mainly OpenVZ/vserver/LXC and possibly QEMU). Thanks in

facts are loaded twice
Hi, i''ve set up my puppet on several clients and today i noticed that the facts are loaded twice by the clients. I took strace to get the list of loaded fact file and i found that puppet seems to load the same fact files twice: chdir("/var/lib/puppet/lib/facter") = 0 open(".", O_RDONLY|O_NONBLOCK|O_DIRECTORY|O_CLOEXEC) = 6 info: Loading facts in vserver

Package: xen-hypervisor-3.2-1-amd64 Version: 3.2.0-5 Severity: important The hypervisor loads OK but then fails to load my dom0 kernel. I get an erorr message "not an ELF binary" followed after 5s by a hypervisor reboot. /boot/grub/grub.cfg contains: menuentry "Debian GNU/Linux, Xen 3.2-1-amd64, Linux 2.6.22-3-vserver-amd64 (single-user mode)" { set root=(hd0,1)

only one external ip
Hi, I am running xen 2.0 for some days now on a local network and it''s running fine :) Every virtual server on my host gets it''s own IP address. But now, I am wondering if it''s possible to run xen on a hosted root server with only one ip address. Lets say I have a domain ''domain.org'' that points to my host, on which xen is running. Is there a

vserver openvpn
Hello I''m new to the list. I installed a vserver (http://www.linux-vserver.org/) on my gentoo server As network interface is used an alias (eth1:0) eth1 is the card of my "loc" zone. eth1:0 has an address from the same subnet from the vserver I can connect to eth0 but not to the internet. From my local net everything works fine. I have an entry in "mask" for eth1

Puppet in vserver
Hi I am looking for quite a while now to run Puppet inside a vserver. The installation worked perfectly, but when I run a test I get this message: smb-configmaster / # puppetd --server 192.168.0.144 --waitforcert 60 --test /usr/lib/ruby/site_ruby/1.8/puppet/network/client/ca.rb:31:in `request_cert'': Certificate retrieval failed: Could not connect to 192.168.0.144 on port 8140

libvirt and linux-vserver
Hi, I was just googling around for linux-vserver support in libvirt, however, only found sad ppl complaining about the fact, that there is still no linux-vserver support in libbirt. Despite the fact, that there was some kind of lag in review by more than one person, why isn't it still in? so... merely two years after? I think once the patched would have been applied, ppl would start using it,

Multiple instances of Asterisk on the same host...
Interesting thread recently about virtual servers... I'm thinking of doing something similar - right now looking at Containers (lxc) rather than "proper" virtualisation though, however it got me thinking of a "poor mans virtualisation" solution... This would assume you have a real server to start with and full root access... I was thinking of simply running multiple

Problems exporting a PCI device to a domU...
Hi! I am trying to export a PCI device (an AVM Fritzcard PCI ISDN card...) to a domU but when starting my domU I am getting this error: "pciback pci-4-0: 22 Couldn''t locate PCI device (0000:00:06.0)! perhaps already in-use?" My system is running both debian etch in dom0 and domU... Below you can find (hopefully) all important information... Sincerely, Gaubatz Patrick

NUT control of vCenter & vServer?
Thanks Bart. Unfortunately "The VIB module does not comply with the security recommendations imposed by VMWare. You lose VMWare support by installing this package." This pretty much rules out this option. :( We need vCenter support, as well. nomad On Thu, May 14, 2020 at 10:06 AM Bart J. Article for wiki consideration
I've recently documented simple use of a VServer with CentOS host and guest. toracat@ said that it might be worthwhile putting on the wiki. The present article is located at http://home.nyc.rr.com/computertaijutsu/vserver.html If it does get to the wiki, I would remove the fedora section and also add a notice at the beginning of the article with dire warnings about using a non-stock kernel.

[LXC][Openstack] Clarifications needed on usage of libvirt-lxc for openstack
Hi everyone, I've some doubts regarding the usage/working of libvirt-lxc with openstack. I'm doing a project titled "Low density virtualization for Storage cloud" 1. Can i use libvirt for lxc with Openstack swift alone (excluding nova, glance and keystone)? If no what other openstack components should i use for virtualization? (Is it necessary to install openstack nova to do

NUT control of vCenter & vServer?
That's certainly on the list of options. I'm doing data gathering right now to see what options there are. I'd prefer not to rashly decide to run off in a direction only to discover this is already a Solved Problem. nomad On Thu, May 14, 2020 at 1:13 PM Bart J.
