bridge + arp
Hi, this is propably bridge related and not really a xen problem, but it might help someone: Some of our domUs are not able to arp. Arp -n show (incomplete), and doing a tcpdump shows, that on the dom0''s eth0 the arp request goes out, the response comes in, but on the vifX.0 interface the arp response is gone. dom0# tcpdump -ni eth0 arp who-has 10.32.2.51 tell 10.32.7.70 arp reply

network problems
So, I have been running into network problems for a while on 4 boxes that I installed xen on so that some engineers have places to test code. This particular problem is happening on all 4 of these boxes. (although, it isn''t happening on an older box running xen from debian etch). What appears to be the problem is that traffic is getting dropped between the vif#.0 interface in dom0

reboot guest on panic
I have a guest that keeps crashing and want to automatically reboot it when it crashes. See: xen PV guest kernel 2.6.32 processes lock up in D state https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=550724 if you want to look at the details on the crashing. Anyway, I boot the guest with the kernel command line parameter: hung_task_panic=1 I have kernel.panic = 15 in the guest /etc/sysctl.conf

Windows XP Home accessing a Samba PDC
A friend of mine has asked me a question in my role as "biggest local geek" (for very small values of "local"). Googling hasn't turned up an answer, so does anyone here know if this is possible? At his business, they had a mixture of XP Home, XP Pro and Win98 machines accessing a Samba server with security=user. The server has one big everyone-read-write drive and a few

Expanding a virtual block device
Hi list. I''m running Xen 4.0.1 on Debian. I''m trying to live resize a block device : - I have a arbitrary block device in my dom0 (/dev/mapper/vm-vol42). - I start a PV domain with that device as a disk (disk = [''phy:/dev/mapper/vm-vol42,xvda,w'']). - I resize vm-vol42 in the dom0 (adding size only) - the dom0 sees the device''s new size. -

[PATCH] fix free of event channel in blkfront
Hi All, We tested the xm block-attach/detach command. It repeats block-attach/detach command for DomU and pv-on-hvm on HVM Domain. (block-attach -> block-detach -> block-attach -> block-detach -> ...) The block-attach command failed when repeating 256 times. It is because the channel had not been freed in blkfront. Therefore, it remain using the event channel. This patch is

Re: [Xen-smartio] Problem with infiniband on Xen domU
Hi Lamia, Currently there is no direct InfiniBand access support in the Official Xen trees. You might want to have a look at our Xen-IB implementation. A preliminary version can be downloaded here: http://xenbits.xensource.com/ext/xen-smartio.hg Some information about its design and applications can be found here: High Performance VMM-Bypass I/O in Virtual Machines (Usenix 06), and A Case for

Has anyone been able to start a Fedora 16 VM in Xen PV?
All, I've had a heck of a time getting Fedora 16 to run as a guest VM under CentOS 5.7 host as a paravirtualized Xen guest. I believe the issue has something to do with Fedora 16 using grub2... When I attempt to start the VM (via xm create), I get this error: Using config file "/etc/xen/fedora-workstation". Traceback (most recent call last): File "/usr/bin/pygrub",

Here is the error: LDAP# ldapadd -x -D "cn=Manager,dc=summitnjhome,dc=com" -W -f /tmp/passwd.ldif adding

Memory usage for reports
Hi, I very recently upgraded from puppet 0.25.4 to 2.6.8 (both master and all nodes), and I''m now facing serious memory usage issues. On the master, I just added more RAM because I had the resources available (from 2GB to 4GB). But on some nodes with 256MB of RAM, I now see some load peaks and services being affected by high I/O caused by swapping. My manifests haven''t changed,
