Howto/Tutorial: Compiling Xen 4.2 from source on RHEL5/CentOS5, RHEL6/CentOS6, Fedora 16, Fedora 17
Hello,
I just wrote instructions for building Xen 4.2 from sources on various RPM-based Linux distributions.
The guide is available here:
http://wiki.xen.org/wiki/Xen_4.2_Build_From_Source_On_RHEL_CentOS_Fedora
I was able to successfully build Xen 4.2.0-rc2 on the following Linux distros:
- CentOS 5.8 x64
- CentOS 6.3 x64
- Fedora 17 x64

Centos6 ipsec troubles
Hello,
it looks like the usual way to do ipsec on centos5 won't work anymore on
centos6
I installed ipsec-tools but an interface type IPsec is not recognized by
the kernel
ifup ipsec0
Device does not seem to be present, delaying initialization.
I am not planning to use the awful OpenSwan, I Want to sue the Kame
implementation which was working fine on CentOS5
any hints ?
thank you

32bit and 64bit version of a package
Hi,
I''m trying to write a recipe to install the latest libstdc++ in both
32bit and 64bit flavors and running into issues. Yum only wants to
install the 64bit version if I do:
yum install libstdc++
If I do something like:
package { "libstdc++.i386" : ensure => latest }
It tells me "nothing to do"
Any suggestions on the right way to do this?
Thanks!

RHEL6 beta vs. Xen
Has anyone yet figured out what it would take to make Xen
run on top of the Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 beta?
We are heavily invested in Xen under RHEL5 (actually
a redhat clone) distribution, but already the xen kernel
they are shipping with update 4 and 5 is shaky and has bugs
which they don''t seem to be in a hurry to fix.
Basically I am wondering if Redhat 6 is just going to
have

CentOs6 - Ltsp
Dear All,
I'm sending this mail in relation to a post on the CentOs 6 forum :
https://www.centos.org/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=32545&start=0#forumpost139559
CentOs 6 works great so far, and I do not want to sound impatient, but
I'm eager to find out when Ltsp would be
available on CentOs6 - or even in Rhel6.
We now use Kiwi-Ltsp on OpenSuse and

IMP: Release 4.0: CentOS 6 packages will not be made available
Gluster Users,
This is to inform you that from the 4.0 release onward, packages for
CentOS 6 will not be built by the gluster community. This also means
that the CentOS SIG will not receive updates for 4.0 gluster packages.
Gluster release 3.12 and its predecessors will receive CentOS 6 updates
till Release 4.3 of gluster (which is slated around Dec, 2018).
The decision is due to the following,

aide questions, please
I'm trying out aide since tripwire doesn't seem to be in the 5. releases
anymore. I do not have Selinux on the server (no at installation), and I
just yum installed the aide rpms, so I should have the latest.
When I run my aide --init, I get all of these lines for all the files:
lgetfilecon_raw failed for /usr/share/X11/app-defaults/XLogo:No data
available
I then copy the

CPU Limit in Centos
A few years ago, I vaguely recall some issue with RHEL needing a special license or something like that, if you had more than a certain amount of CPU's or a certain amount of RAM.
Does Centos work fine for 2 CPU's, 16 cores, 32 threads, and 256 G of ram?
Centos6 specifically.

Migrate OLD PDC on Centos5 to Centos6
Hi.
I have a old server running our PDC(NT4 Style) with Centos 5+samba 3x+LDAP
as backend.
I want to move this setup to Centos 6.
Some one running this layout under Centos6 without issue?
I don't want to right now to work with AD style yet, no time for testing.
Thanks guys.

centos6 filesystem size limit
I just read the rhel6 filesystem size limit.
http://www.redhat.com/rhel/compare/
It says 16TB limit for ext4 (same as ext3)?!?! I thought ext4 was
supposed to support 1EB ( ~ 1 million TB) limit. That was one of the
main advantages of rhel6. After a little more digging all I found was
that the user space formatting tools (mkfs.ext4) only support 32bit
filesystems (not 48bits). I'm surprised

CentOS6 virtio?
Are there any updated instructions for installing Windows virtio drivers on
a KVM Windows XP vm under CentOS6? The virtio .iso directory structure is
slightly different from what is described in the RHEL6 virtualisation
manual, and when I attempt to install e.g. the viostor driver, the device
manager cannot find anything better than what is already installed. I tried

Minimum python 2.7 (not on RHEL6) for Samba 4.7 AD DC?
G'Day,
I've been looking at our minimum python version for the AD DC.
We have some patches currently being proposed to help us become
compatible with the modern Python3, and one aspect (PyCapsule) would be
easier to do if we restricted Samba to requiring Python 2.7 as a
minimum.
The wrinkle comes from our good friends at Red Hat, which found itself
caught with Python 2.6 on RHEL6.
