Why are all repos < 5.6 listed?
Greetings all. I just enabled all repos on my system, to enable me to find a particular package. This is the first time I have noticed all the Centos repos < 5.6 being listed. Is this a new feature, to include all repos pre 5.6 now? Here's the output of the aforementioned yum command - sorry it's a little bit long: [root at karsites ~]# yum --enablerepo '*' --disablerepo

A question about memory ballooning
Hi all, How can I manage automatically memory ballooning under a kvm host (C5.6 and future C6)?? For example if I define a kvm guest to boot up with 512MB of RAM and I have configured 1GB as a maximum memory for this guest, how can I allocate this memory when guest will need it?? And the opposite question, can memory balloon be deallocated?? And is it possible to do this automatically or

Help With Glade and C5 64-bit?
I have a user with C5.4 64-bit, fully updated, performed a yum install glade, it claimed to have installed everything, but we cannot get it to run. Neither whereis nor locate revleal an executable. We obtained the latest glade source from the project's web site, attempted to configure it, until it complained of needed dependencies, namely gtk+ (newer than what was on the system). So I got

LDAP NULL BASE Search Access to Samba4
Recently, i scanned my samba4.1 server by Nessus (a vulnerability scanner tool - http://www.tenable.com/products/nessus) Nessus says that Samba4 is vulnerable to "LDAP NULL BASE Search Access" as "The remote LDAP server may disclose sensitive information." Further it says that - The remote LDAP server supports search requests with a null, or empty, base object. This allows

Building an "instant on" X terminal
I got my hands on a HP t5720. This was designed as a thin-client workstation (originally Windows XPembedded, talking to a Windows terminal server). It's not very powerful, with an AMD Geode NX 1500 (1.0 GHz), 256Mb RAM (16MB used for video) and a 512Mb flash "hard disk". I plugged in a USB DVD drive and was able to boot "linux rescue" from a C5.4 32bit disk, and it

Is oprofile still working?
Hi all, Is anyone using oprofile? I'm getting segfaults from opreport at the moment, and I'm not sure if it is opreport, or just me. In case it is something just plain daft I am doing, here is how it goes: opcontrol --reset opcontrol --setup --no-vmlinux opcontrol --start ... now I run my program, /tmp/myprog ... opcontrol --dump opcontrol --shutdown then I run, opreport -l

[LLVMdev] MC: Object file specific parsing
Hi Matt, After looking at this again I don't think this approach is really tenable. I'm going to start hacking on an alternate approach, which should end up with the same result. Please ping me again if you don't hear anything in a day or two. - Daniel On Mon, Jun 28, 2010 at 12:52 AM, Matt Fleming <matt at console-pimps.org> wrote: > On Tue, Jun 22, 2010 at 12:26:00AM

Hi, I have php 5.4.16 php in my centos 7 machine & when I searched over internet I could see it is effected by some vulenrabilities. flash and konqueror
I am stuck taking this stupid online training course from work. It just sits there doing nothing with firefox, so I pulled up konqueror, and tell it to lie and say it's IE. That works... until it gets to the content, which some HR moron is *positive* desperately needs to be in flash. I've gone into konqi's configuration, and told it to scan the correct directory for plugins, and yet

how is "binary compatibility" determined?
Hi all! We've seen quite a few references on the list to "100% binary compatibility with upstream". What I am curious about is, how precisely is this determined? All the ways I can think of for comparing how two systems might work seem flawed in some way (e.g., using some sort of checksum; unit testing; verifying build parameters). I did some searches both at centos.org and

help loading files into R for koRpus analysis
Hello all, I need some help with loading text-file data into R for analysis with packages like koRpus. The problem I am facing is getting R to recognize a folder full of Word files (about 4,000) as data which I can then make koRpus perform analyses like Coleman-Liau indexing. If at all possible, I prefer to make this work with Word files. The key problem is the struggle to cause R to

Intel ICH10R on CentOS 5.4
Hey there.. I was wondering if anyone could share experiences they have had with the Intel ICH10R SATA controller? I tried looking around but all I could find were RAID references, I have no interest in using the RAID functionality just basic SATA JBOD. Wondering if there are any gotchas for performance, drivers, quality etc. I normally don't touch anything that is not hardware RAID though

Moving the AVR backend out of experimental

The AVR backend passes virtually all of the LLVM test suite but these when avr-unknown-unknown is set as the default target. It feels like the inclusion of ~80 XFAILs for these
