e1000 gig nic howto?
We have a 10Gbps connection to our server so I need to be able to create VMs using the faster e1000 nics instead of the default Realtek 100Mbps ones but I''m not sure how to go about it. Is there a walkthrough or "howto" or can someone point me at some simple instructions? I''m using xen-3.0.3-105.el5_5.5 and Centos 5.5 kernel 2.6.18-194.32.1.el5.centos.plusxen VMs are

kmod-kvm for custom CentOS 5.5 kernel
Hello all! I have actual need to build a custom kernel.(Have to change Preemption model to 'server' and turn off Preempt the big kernel lock, ect) I have heard bits and pieces about these changing defaults in newer kernels but I haven't investigated that yet. This of course is not a problem at all, made my needed changes to the source code and successfully build both the standard

Any known problems with kernel-2.6.18-164.el5.x86_64 / x86_64 / 3ware?
Hi, I have a server that is running centos 5.3 x86_64 that until last week was running fine. With no error messages in console and in /var/log/messages the server simply stops responding. After a reboot everything is fine. The only change (that I could find) but that was not active before the first incident/reboot was the update of the kernel and friends. The server (is this can help) is a

qemu-kvm segfaults on starting guests
I have a Centos 5.5 on an AMD 64 system (Athlon II x2 250). I caught up on updates today, including -- kernel 2.6.18-194.17.1.el5 -- glibc 2.5-49.el5_5.5.i686 I have several guests that were working before the update, but now none of them will boot. With each attempt I get a message in /var/log/messages: -- kernel: qemu-kvm[xx]: segfault at 000000379fc0da11 rip 00002b9f2732283f rsp

Virtualization supporting 1000Mbps nics?
I've got xen-3.0.3-105.el5_5.5 running on Centos 5.5 and all is running smooth but I notice that any VMs running under it only have access to Realtek RTL8139C at 100 Mbps nics. We have 4 x 1G nics configured in a port channel so I'd really like to be able to give my VMs 1000Mbps nics. Does anyone know if this is possible and how to do it? If not, does KVM support faster nics because at

Build environment for totem-2.16.7-7.el5_6.1.src.rpm
This package has a build requirement 'gecko-devel' which is fulfilled by 'xulrunner-devel'. But in the process of building the browser plugins two tools named 'xpidl' and 'xpt_link' are necessary. They werde once part of 'gecko-devel' but are now replaced by other tools. I haven't found any package that has these tools all the way back to 5.0. Maybe

Server Reboots in Mid-Rsync
Hi All, I know this is a long shot, but I thought I would ask. We've been using a backup script which uses rsync for months now on a Xen server without issue. A few weeks ago we had some work done on the server which included upgrading the kernel. We are now running 2.6.18-128.1.10.el5xen and now the server reboots every night in the middle of the rsync process. I've added enough
