Linux distributions supported by Xen as PVM domUs
Hi: Reading Red Hat''s Website and a printed manual of RH184 (Red Hat Virtualization course) I see that RHEL 5 only supports RHEL 4.5 and RHEL 5 as paravirtualized guests. So I asume this is the same situation for CentOS 5, right? What''s the dependency between Xen versions for paravirtualized guests? I ask this questions because I got this experiences: 1. I''ve installed xen from sources and only have one xen kernel in /boot which I''m using for dom0; should I use the same kernel for domUs? There is any problem on use vcpus=2; the other vm is an hvm running

can''t run Debian guest
Hello, I created a paravirtualized Debian Squeeze guest (using virt-manager), after completing the initial setup I was asked to reboot, in order to finalise the installation. [PATCH v3 1/2] xen: enter/exit lazy_mmu_mode around m2p_override calls
This patch is a significant performance improvement for the m2p_override: about 6% using the gntdev device. Each m2p_add/remove_override call issues a MULTI_grant_table_op and a __flush_tlb_single if kmap_op != NULL. Batching all the calls together is a great performance benefit because it means issuing one hypercall total rather than two hypercall per page. If paravirt_lazy_mode is set

For those of you that are stuck on and old version of Xen and want to use Ubuntu 10.04, here is a self contained pygrub, out of Xen 4.01. (64bit centos dom0) cd /opt wget http://dmarkey.com/~dmarkey/pygrub64.tar.gz tar zxvf pygrub64.tar.gz then set your bootloader to /opt/pygrub64/bin/pygrub Regards, David _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list

Install ubunto domU
Dear *, I''m more used to work with RedHat like OSes. Still, I did not denied the request from a user who wants a domU based on ubunto. I usually use virt-install to do the job, with a script similar to this one: #!/bin/sh BASE=SL-4.7-i386-pv \ virt-install --nographics \ --nonsparse \ --paravirt \ --noreboot \

Xen on Centos 5.5 vs 5.3 and stability issues
I've recently upgraded a Centos 5.3 machine to Centos 5.5. The hardware isn't HVM capabile so I'm only running para-virt guests. Using a vanilla i386 kernel boots without, but the newer kernel-xen locks up the Dom0 after a couple of minute. I'm only booting into single user mode for these tests so no VMs are active. *kernel-xen-2.6.18-128.1.10.el5 - no issues

Running Fedora 10 (and rawhide) Xen guests/domUs on CentOS 5 dom0
Hi list! Now when Fedora 10 is out, I thought of writing here what's needed to run Fedora 10 Xen domUs on CentOS 5 dom0. Fedora 10 does not have separate kernel-xen, but instead Xen domU support is included in the normal kernel-PAE.i686 and kernel.x86_64 (based on the pv_ops Xen support included in the mainline/vanilla Linux kernels). RHEL 5.3 beta (and final obviously too) includes
