Unsupported Kernel for X86_64 and i386
All,
There have been many requests for added kernel features that the
upstream provider left out of the standard kernel. (ReiserFS,
Video4Linux, Firewire support, XFS, NTFS, JFS, etc.).
We want the main release CDs to contain a standard kernel for
compatibility and stability reasons. CentOS is created as a clone, and
it needs to be as close as possible to the upstream distro.
That being said,

encoding to many clients
Hi!
I am new to video encoding and streaming so this question may sound silly.
However I want to create a simple application which would get video frames from
video device (video4linux) encode them using theora and then send to
clients.
The question is: do I have to encode the stream for each client
seperately? It would be ideally to have one encoded stream and send it
to as many clients as it

OpenHDCapture
I just saw this project referenced on the video4linux mailing list, and
I thought others on this list might be interested (assuming they don't
already know about it):
http://www.opencircuits.com/OpenHDCapture
To summarize, the goal is to develop an open hardware device that can
capture video at 720p30 (1280x720, 30fps). At the moment I am not sure
if Theora has a direct relationship with

Getting something into centosplus for 5.2?
I've got a USB to serial adapter that I picked up from Radio Shack
earlier this year. The updated pl2303 driver is already in the
mainstream kernel as per
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=429652 but I'm not getting
much traction from Red Hat as far as them updating the kernel. So every
time there's an updated kernel, I have to rebuild the srpm.
I figure that this is the

Trying to understand Suspend 2
I am trying to understand Suspend 2 and what I have to do to get it
working in Centos 5. There is quite a bit for it at ATrpms:
http://www.atrpms.net/dist/el5/hibernate-suspend2/
http://www.atrpms.net/dist/el5/kernel-suspend2/
The later is the kernel patches that they refer to at the Suspend2
website, so I don't have to recompile the kernel?
I noticed that over at:

I have this old memory that the kernels used are a hodge podge of backports
etc.
So for a kernel-smp-2.6.9-55.0.9.EL should I use 0.4.10?

[PATCH 2/5] Interrupts subarch cleanup.patch
A brave attempt to be rid of an unnecessary subarch hook and clean things
up a bit. First, all subarches use IRQ-2 as a cascade IRQ. So do that in
the common code. Second, there is no need for a pre_intr_init_hook. We
can set up the interrupt gates at any time, as this doesn't touch any
real hardware, just the processor gates. Now the subarch code still needs
to setup the appropriate irq

Multilevel analysis using nlme (lme) . Error using z-scores
Hi,
i am trying to learn something about multilevel analysis using a great
"Discovering statistics using R". I constructed some sample data and then
tried to fit a model. Generally model fits well, however when trying to fit
the same model using z-score (standarizded) variables i got an error:
Error in lme.formula(z_wyn ~ z_IQ + Kasa, data = la, random = ~z_IQ | :

How to test combined effects?
Suppose I have a mixed-effects model where yij is the jth sample for
the ith subject:
yij= beta0 + beta1(age) + beta2(age^2) + beta3(age^3) + beta4(IQ) +
beta5(IQ^2) + beta6(age*IQ) + beta7(age^2*IQ) + beta8(age^3 *IQ)
+random intercepti + eij
In R how can I get an F test against the null hypothesis of
beta6=beta7=beta8=0? In SAS I can run something like contrast age*IQ

modifying a vector
Hello everyone,
Thanks to all who offered suggestions after my initial query to the list.
I've been busy trying to absorb the docs as fast as possible, but this
little thing has me stumped for the moment.
I'm creating a random sample of 100 item and saving it to a vector named
'iq'. I'd like to create a second vector (iq_prime, say) by adding 20 to
each element of the

google voice + asterisk: calls made to GV# processed but weird
Dear all,
First off, I am very new to asterisk so forgive me if any of my
comments or questions seem trivial. Thanks to [this
post](http://blog.polybeacon.com/2010/10/17/asterisk-1-8-and-google-voice/)
and [this post](http://www.davidvossel.com/?p=28), I have GV set up on
asterisk through jabber.conf and gtalk.conf. I can successfully dial
out from asterisk.
I'm trying to set up an
