JRE 8.1 for CentOS6
I have some software that says it requires JRE 8.1 or higher. If I go to http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/jre8-downloads-2133155.html and install jre-8u144-linux-x64.rpm I get jrel.8.0_144. Anyone know where I can get 8.1?

http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/JavaRuntimeEnvironment Did not make it DRAFT as it has evolved from old pages, has been well tested, and is near perfect. :-) Constructive criticism is, as usual, solicited and welcomed. Phil

[LLVMdev] vmkit2 core dump after building mmtk
I also misunderstood :) So, in this case, the problem is that your version of openjdk is probably not supported. In fact, we only support the version 7u23 of openjdk :) You can find this version here: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/java-archive-downloads-javase7-521261.html#jdk-7u25-oth-JPR Currently, I'm modifying the internal design of vmkit and I'm not working

java annoyances
Fresh install on a brand new box (Dell Precision 3500) of 5.6. I install Sun java-1.6.0_26-b03, Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 20.1-b02, mixed mode) Then ln -s /usr/lib/jvm/java-1.6.0-sun-1.6.0.26.x86_64/jre/lib/amd64/libnpjp2.so /usr/lib64/mozilla/plugins about:plugins shows java enabled (oddly enough, I seem to have flash, 32-bit, in the 32 bit libs, and that doesn't show; guess

R and Java 10 ➜ rJava not able to build
Hi Jeff!! I really don?t know if running R CMD javareconf with sudo has posed a problem here, now or in the past. What I know is sometimes it?s the only way to really config it, if I don?t run with sudo, in the end it asks me if I want to overwrite the configuration from root override rw-r--r-- root/admin for /usr/local/Cellar/r/3.4.4/lib/R/etc/Makeconf? Suggestion for "how to" section: easy way to install the JDK?
I've read website http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/JavaOnCentOS. I am a total newbie with CentOS, but currently, with update 21 of the Java 6 JDK and CentOS 5.5, the installing the JDK appears to be simpler: 1. Download the latest *rpm.bin jdk (as of today,jdk-6u21-linux-i586-rpm.bin) fromhttp://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/widget/jdk6.jsp 2. chmod +x the downloaded file. 3. su 4. Execute

[LLVMdev] vmkit2 core dump after building mmtk
I guess I mispoke, I checked out the source from http://llvm.org/svn/llvm-project/vmkit/trunk. I thought this was vmkit2. I guess I was just referring to vmkit then. Java headaches
I lost my harddrive, and have had to reinstall. This time, I am being a bit smarter on imaging, but still got to get things installed... Installing Freemind. It needs Java JRE. So after lots of pain, and reading past messages, I got jre-1_5_0_09-linux-i586.rpm from sun and installed it. Then I tried to follow Jim Perrin's recommendation to install from jpackage.org the

[LLVMdev] vmkit2 core dump after building mmtk
Thanks for your help so far Gaël, but I ran into more trouble. I installed the JDK on my system and the messages indicated the JVM version needs to be 1.6. Did you intend to link me to Java 7? strugging with things here... tried tracking the info on the Wiki (which apparently is now in need of a maintainer)... http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/JavaOnCentOS My primary interest is using Xalan/Saxon/xslt/xsl-fo docbook generation. I was thinking that all I really need is jre but downloaded both jre and jdk just in case. can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong? (after removing both jdk

[LLVMdev] vmkit2 core dump after building mmtk
Arg, you have to use a version strictly before the 7u25 (probably the 7u21), sorry! I hope that it will work, because I also have problem to compile the trunk version of vmkit (I haven't tested the trunk since two months). I'm investigating. Tell me if it works for you with an older version :) See you, Gaël PS: the warning messages are not important 2013/11/21 Adam Pridgen

Installing Java 7 on a system with Java 6
My system is 5.6, with upgrades. I installed Java 6 from the Centos repository. It doesn't seem to have Java 7. I need the development package. How can I install Java 7 development safely? I imagine I will first have to uninstall Java 6. Thanks, John -- John J. Boyer; President, Chief Software Developer Abilitiessoft, Inc. http://www.abilitiessoft.com Madison, Wisconsin USA Developing
