Format for giving examples of commands
Hello, Is there a standard format for quoting examples of commands to be entered by the user? I've given the following example commands: cd /tmp wget http://www.skype.com/go/getskype-linux-beta-static cd /opt tar xjvf /tmp/skype_static-4.0.0.7.tar.bz2 rm /tmp/skype_static-4.0.0.7.tar.bz2 ln -s skype_staticQT-4.0.0.7 skype Someone changed them to add prompts: [root at host]# cd /tmp [root

Skype version for CentOS 5.3
Which is the best version of skype to install in CentOS 5.3? skype.i586 2.0.0.72-fc5 from the skype repo or skype 2.1.0.47-fc10.i586.rpm from the 'skype for linux beta' downloads section of the skype website? Andy

Skype and problem with ALSA mixer driver?
Having used skype successfully in the past with previous CentOS versions, I haven't yet been able to get it working fully with CentOS 5.3 - the playback sound works OK but I can't get the mic working. I previously used the skype version installed with yum from the skype repo but thought maybe this was faulty, so have just installed the static version (cd skype_static-2.1.0.81). However,

skype on 5.7
Earlier last year I had a 5.7 system running with skype. It worked fine. Later last year I had to reinstall my entire system. I didn't install skype then. Yesterday I tried to find a version of skype to use on 5.7, but couldn't find one on skype.com; there's no version for RH/CentOS 5.7. Does anyone know where a working skype can be found? Thanks.

Hi Akemi, thank you so much for your help. So, the case sensitivity bit me again: my actual account name is all lower case: https://wiki.centos.org/tomastomecek (b/c that's also my FAS account name) I guess I can try creating an account with initials in caps or I'd need the perms for my lower case account. Don't have a preference. I just read my original email and realized that I

Incorrect link in /Contribute wiki page
Thanks Yagi-san! So I was originally wondering how to fix some issues (e.g. typo) in the wiki, and I ended up finding this mailing list. Should I report the issue in the mailing list, and wait for someone with proper privileges to fix it? Or am I allowed to edit it by myself? Updating information on Skype in HowTo
Hello: My user name is YvesBellefeuille. I'd like to edit the information on using Skype under CentOS 6 at http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/Skype . The current information is based on http://www.openfusion.net/2009/09/19#fn.html , which was written in 2009 and is no longer accurate. Here are two examples: (1) it's no longer necessary to install qt4; (2) the packages to be installed are

Building a kernel without kabichk
I?m trying to build a 2.6.18-128.1.6.el5 kernel without kabichk. I have downloaded the sources, installed the compiler, etc and ran the following command rpmbuild -bb --target=`uname -m` --without kabichk --with baseonly --without debug \ --without debuginfo kernel-2.6.spec. I had modified the .SPEC file according to the WIKI page http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/Custom_Kernel I have NOT
