http://www.centos.org/docs
Hi, Why does http://www.centos.org/docs not point to say this for example: http://docs.redhat.com/docs/en-US/Red_Hat_Enterprise_Linux/index.html The latter is more comprehensive. The links that http://www.centos.org/docs contains all have "upstream" labels on the reading material, so I'm guessing the trademark boundries are not being crossed. Regards, Paul (Crunch)

License of the nutshell package
Hello, I wish to package the nutshell package. I need help to understand which license is relevant. The upstream page at http://cran.r-project.org/web/packages/nutshell/index.html says that the license is "file LICENSE". This is further explained at http://cran.r-project.org/web/packages/nutshell/LICENSE as [snip] The audioscrobbler data is made avaialable under the following

License for Wiki Content - LAST CALL
Okay, this will never come to an end otherwise: I would like to use <http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/> as the license for the complete content of the wiki. The content on the wiki is *NOT* licensed at all at the moment. So this call goes out to *ALL* people who have already contributed to the wiki: Is it okay with you to use this license for your content on the wiki? If

Hi, When browsing the (excellent) deployment guide I found the following broken links: http://www.centos.org/docs/5/html/5.2/Deployment_Guide/s2-basic-firewall-securitylevel-enable.html ('Next' link from http://www.centos.org/docs/5/html/5.2/Deployment_Guide/s2-basic-firewall-securitylevel.html) http://www.centos.org/docs/5/html/5.2/Deployment_Guide/s2-iptables-options-commands.html

should vsftpd be disabled in favour of sftp for security reasons?
(another in an ongoing list of things i just want to clarify for the sake of future courses taught on centos.) from this RHEL doc page: http://docs.redhat.com/docs/en-US/Red_Hat_Enterprise_Linux/5/html/Deployment_Guide/s1-openssh-server-config.html the reader is advised to, for the sake of security, remove/disable vsftpd, ostensibly in favour of sftp/sftp-server. really? i can obviously

LDAP Authentication to Lotus Domino?
Has anybody done any authentication to Lotus Domino using LDAP? I selected LDAP options in the "authconfig-tui" application, per the documentation here: http://www.centos.org/docs/5/html/Deployment_Guide-en-US/s1-ldap-pam.html when I try to query the directory for user information though, I get no results using the ldapsearch command [root at ldapclient ~]# ldapsearch -x

Hi, I have CentOS 5 installed, and I'd like to read the RHEL 5 Deployment Guide in french. The online version seems to be available in english only. There's an RPM package on my system: # rpm -qa | grep -i depl Deployment_Guide-fr-FR-5.0.0-19.el5.centos Deployment_Guide-en-US-5.0.0-19.el5.centos Now what does the package consist of? How much SWAP Space.
Hi, I have loaded CentOS 5.6 on HP DL 180G6 2U Rack Server and the physical RAM is 32 GB. As per http://www.centos.org/docs/5/html/Deployment_Guide-en-US/ch-swapspace.html It says it should be 1 x of Physical RAM or less. Not sure about the "less" word in deciding swap space size Please suggest/guide further on what all parameters i should decide to set swap space. Regards, Kaushal

Wiki license, again
and this time with a decision, please. Hi, I just had a talk with someone on IRC who wanted to reuse stuff from <http://wiki.centos.org/MarketingMaterial> and asked me about the licensing of content on there. Which made me think "Well, let us restart this discussion again". We *do* need a license for content on the wiki. The three licenses we're favouring (well, sort of)

ip route and nexthop: the "CentOS" way
Hi, I'm wanting to configure a CentOS 6 server to have a fall-back default route via a second network interface. Given: - eth0 with 192.168.0.10 on subnet 192.168.0.0/24 gateway 192.168.0.1 - eth1 with 192.168.1.10 on subnet 192.168.1.0/24 gateway 192.168.1.1 Where eth0's network is a "back door" to the internet, and eth1's is the "front door", I believe I can

Sending git changes on the centos-docs for centos.org website
Hi, Just to let you know that we decided to send all the git notifications to the centos-docs list for the centos.org website. The git repository is hosted on https://git.centos.org/summary/?r=websites/centos.org.git (will be open soon) It's low-traffic, so centos-docs list will not receive a huge amount of notifications, but at least some people on the list will get notification when a git

The use for an XML based metadata format
Daniel, these are all good ideas and worth progressing. However, it may be better not to merge too many goals in one format (MPEG-7 did that and ended up as a big mess). So, I suggest to start by structuring the types of things you want - then finding out which parts belong where into existing formats such as vorbis comment, Skeleton and CMML, and only then start to develop a new format.
