migrating from Samba 2.0 to Samba 2.2 (AIX)
hello, I'm trying to migrate a rather simple configuration from a Samba 2.0.6 to Samba 2.2.8 , on an AIX system. smb.conf stays exactly the same & checked with testparm. File sharing works fine again, but not printing : smbd meets an internal error when a NT box tries to launch a print job. Sample of logfile : [2003/03/19 16:42:56, 10] lib/username.c:user_in_list(456) user_in_list:

OziExplorer works on LINUX using WINE
I've succeeded in running the wonderful charting program OziExplorer (3.85.3c), http://www.oziexplorer.com/ , on LINUX (RedHat 6.2) using WINE 20010112. The times to load the program and to load a map did take 5 to 8 times longer using WINE than they did using WIN95. I was able to enable the serial port and have the position computed by my GPS displayed on the chart. OziExplorer is a

Re : Wiki: Howtos/Virtualization/HyperV
Hello Ozy, having used Hyper-V for about two years, ever since it was 'published' in it's pre-release version immediately after release of Windows 2008 Server, I'm very glad you found the time to write a Wiki article on the issue. I remember the time drifts in particular, and wasting two whole days troubleshooting the problem until I finally got it resolved - and at that

Idmap RID back end on Samba 4.2.1
A question to the Samba developers (or anyone else who knows the answer): Since Samba (as of version 4.2) can now use the "normal" winbindd daemon, I suppose that RID mapping on a AD DC will work in the same way as it works on a member server. So, if I configure it in exactly the same way as in my member servers and then replace the UID/GID of all files in the DC with the new ones,

Upgrading to dovecot2 broke IDLE on one mailer, but not another
Last weekend I upgraded my server (complete reinstall, actually), from Debian sarge to wheezy, which brought me from dovecot 1.x (I think) to 2.1.7. It's all working now, *except* that the MUA I use on Android, Kaiten (a fork of K-9), apparently no longer gets IDLE notifications. Before the upgrade, when mail arrived, Kaiten would pop up an Android notification immediately; now, it

Tinyproxy and shorewall setup

So in shorewall/rules I have ACCEPT loc fw tcp 8888 DROP loc fw tcp 80,8080 The ACCEPT works fine but the DROP does not seem to work. If I
