Article for wiki consideration
I've recently documented simple use of a VServer with CentOS host and
guest. toracat@ said that it might be worthwhile putting on the wiki.
The present article is located at
http://home.nyc.rr.com/computertaijutsu/vserver.html
If it does get to the wiki, I would remove the fedora section and also
add a notice at the beginning of the article with dire warnings about
using a non-stock kernel.

Is Centos 5.5 too old fro Google Chrome?
I tried to install Google Chrome and received the dependencies
error. Is Centos too old for the new Chrome or is there an older
Chrome version that is compatible?

2 encrypted VG's on 1 disk - HOW?
I don't think it's a "distro related" issue, so i'm posting it here too:
http://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/11289/how-to-install-fedoraubuntu-with-encrypted-vgs-on-one-disk
what am i missing?
why doesn't GRUB offer the 2 distros at boot, why is it only offering only 1?? why doesn't it sees the other one??
Thanks for any help...

Building an install disk on a USB key manually or using unetbootin
Has anyone successfully built a USB key for installing centos5.5 either
manually or using a tool like unetbootin?
I am trying to create one using the 64bit install DVD iso and so far the
USB either won't boot (unetbootin) or the installation aborts after I
select the iso location on the USB key (manual).
Thanks,

short vpnc article
Akemi-san has suggested that I turn the following post into a wiki
article.
(The article would be a bit better organized, since if one bothers to
follow the thread, you'll see that I found that one can use the pcf2vpnc
in Dag's rpm without worrying about having a plain text password.)

article for consideration, Atheros 5007EG wireless card
I have a page where I document getting the increasingly popular AR5007EG
Atheros wireless card working. (This is the card used in the Asus EEE
PC).
The current article covers several
distributions, but would be modified to just cover CentOS.
It does, however, involve getting third party software, as the rpmforge
repos don't have the necessary drivers. (Apparently, it's a bit of a

freeNX page additional note
Ralph,
ScottRobbins has a useful note to add to the FreeNX article. You can
see it in this Forum post:

Could you give him edit rights to that page?

Invalid SyntaxReference page in the wiki
Hi,
Something which bothered me a few times in the past, the SyntaxReference
link when you are editing a page points to: centoswiki/SyntaxReference
That page did not exist, luckily it suggested the real location:
SyntaxReference so it was not a real problem. But it may confuse other
people in the future.
So what I did for now was created the non-existing page and redirected it

Hi all,
I hope there is someone in Japan.
If we install Centos in Japanese, and then I ssh to it from an English

How to make the SSH prompt in Japanese?

HP Network Printer Issue - Resend
I sent the following message back in June, but I must have missed the reply:
I'm attempting to install and configure HPLIP (HP Linux Imaging and
Printing) software on my CentOS 5.3 x86_64 system without success. I've
got a HP Officejet Pro 8500 multi-function printer connected via
ethernet.
I'm getting a message saying that it cannot locate the libcups

LDAP authentication on a remote server (via ldaps://)
Hello,
I have a central repository of users/groups based on OpenLDAP which is
working on a remote LAN (servers share users credentials and mount
their home directories via NFS). They use non-encrypted ldap
restricted to the local network.
Now, I have a few servers in our local office and I would like them to
authenticate from the remote LDAP server using encryption via
ldaps://.

Network Scanner and CentOS 5.5
I have an HP Photosmart 3210 All-in-One color printer. Printing works
great, but I cannot get xsane to locate it on the local subnet.
I've been to the sane site and looked at the backends. The HP 3210 is
supported by hpio and there is a note that hpio is no longer needed
because the functionality has been rolled int hplip. yum shows hplip is
installed:

(no subject)
Hi all,
I've got a bit of an issue with reinstalling a server. I can
get the installer to boot off a memory stick
made with unetbootin, but I can't seem to find the installation files
on the stick. I have hda, sda and sdb
but none are acceptable install media.
How do I mount the USB stick while in the installer to install off it?
DVD isn't an option because it's been

Installing Cent OS from a usb flash drive
I recently acquired a Fujitsu Lifebook 1610. Unfortunately, the
machine was missing a lot of the stuff that would've come with it brand
new, mainly the usb cdrom drive.
Currently, I'm running Fedora on it, and I installed it using a
usb flash drive with the help of a program called unetbootin(Probably
not spelled right). to load the ISO onto the USB drive. I've
successfully used

CentOS 6 supported hardware
Has anyone seen a supported hardware list on CentOS 6? I've been looking
around for the last few days; even looked at RedHat's site but didn't
find one.
I've got a Dell Inspiron 1501 with a Dell Wireless 1390 WLAN mini-card
in it and I'm trying to find out if it's going to have native driver
support for the WIFI.
thanks,

true, i did not say how i created cd's.
i used k3b as it is easier, less to remember, than using command line.
usb's sticks were created using unetbootin and fedora-liveusb-creator.
yes, i did not mention that i tried with 2 usb sticks. failure was
same, did not feel it mattered. failure is
