Two things...
1. Would one of the Wiki admins help unwind my Wiki credentials? I originally registered as "crisrhea" (lower case), but was told I should have used "CrisRhea" (camel case). I logged in and changed my preferences to use CrisRhea, but I can't access/edit my pages (/CrisRhea, /HowTos/Xen/NvidiaWithXen). Can one of the admins please fix my rights on these two

Closing loop: How-to for NVIDIA driver on Xen Dom0
I had a couple comments on my proposal to write a how-to on NVIDIA on Xen Dom0: Marcus: I would rather prefer if you could take care of the current Xen articles on the wiki, first. They are quite outdated. --- I don't consider myself an expert on all things Xen. In reviewing the material on the CentOS Wiki regarding Xen, I felt the articles were pretty well done (even if they were

Newsletter 1002, Spanish version
Hello, I have just finished my Spanish translation of the last Newsletter. As I have no edit rights to the proper zone, I have written it into my own personal page http://wiki.centos.org/EduardoGrosclaude. Please some elder member of the familiy snip it off from there and hang it where it belongs. :) I have not involved myself in prior proofreading, so this may be a bit off. May I slip in a small

Nightly housekeeping/Logwatch periodically not running
I've noticed something strange with a 3.4 test box that is basically just sitting here in the lab. I've got it configured to forward me the Logwatch run (which seems to go off at 4:02am by default). Every couple of days, that logwatch run goes missing. I haven't really dug down to find out if the cron job is crapping out or if postfix is dropping the report on the floor. Is

A housekeeping question...
Evening all: Stepping away from the stats methodology questions for a moment, I have a housekeeping question for when it comes time to make the jump to v2.7.2. I'm running v2.7.1 on an XP system. I have a suspicion that, by way of experimentation with a couple of shell choices along the way, I've left myself with a couple of unused stowaway libraries that I see no need to bring along

Asking an old housekeeping question...
My bad. I know I've asked this some time back but I'm afraid I've lost the post along the way and am not having much luck searching the net. Don't want to pad my R setup with orphan packages. Is there a small snippet of code or even a single command that would allow me to check the packages I do use for their dependencies and then I can chuck those that don't turn up as wanted

Samba Domain Member Server -- tdbsam/winbind/idmap_rid -- file ownership ?
I have just struggled to implement a Samba Domain Server, and have some remaining issues. I have a Samba PDC using tdbsam, managing a domain called RHEA. I have (finally) configured a new Samba Domain Server (AUREUS) using winbind and idmap_rid. When I am logged in to RHEA as user GMCH I can access a TMP share on AUREUS (at last). Running 'getent passwd' I get (inter alia):

Data Frame housekeeping
Hello, I have a large data frame that is organized by date in a peculiar way. I am seeking advice on how to transform the data into a format that is of more use to me. The data is organized as follows: STN_ID YEAR MM ELEM X1 X2 X3 X4 X5 X6 X7 1 2402594 1997 9 1 *-00233* *-00204* *-00119* -00190 -00251 -00243 -00249 2 2402594

Problem with CLVM (really openais)
I'm desparately looking for more ideas on how to debug what's going on with our CLVM cluster. Background: 4 node "cluster"-- machines are Dell blades with Dell M6220/M6348 switches. Sole purpose of Cluster Suite tools is to use CLVM against an iSCSI storage array. Machines are running CentOS 5.8 with the Xen kernels. These blades host various VMs for a project. The iSCSI

Failed to re-index objectSid after botched DLZ back-end update
Alright, I'm taking the plunge: We're switching our three AD DCs from Samba internal to BIND_DLZ back end. I needed a version of BIND with DLZ, as it appears support for that is not so ubiquitous. I went here first: https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Using_BIND_DLZ_backend_with_secured_/_signed_DNS_updates We use Ubuntu 14.04 here, and the Debian/Ubuntu instructions fail on apt-get

Why tzdata-2007h [RHEA-2007:0928-05] only for CentOS 2?
I might be stupid and ask an idiot or offensive question, but here it is: "Why was tzdata-2007h [RHEA-2007:0928-05] only released for CentOS 2, when upstream has released it for all the versions?" The guys from X/OS have released it for 5.0 along with the other updates (on Oct. 9). Are the "enhancements"... "not important" as long as they're not "security

Poor performance of btrfs. Suspected unidentified btrfs housekeeping process which writes a lot
Welcome, I''ve been using btrfs for over a 3 months to store my personal data on my NAS server. Almost all interactions with files on the server are done using unison synchronizer. After another use of bedup (https://github.com/g2p/bedup) on my btrfs volume I experienced huge perfomance loss with synchronization. It now takes over 3 hours what have taken only 15 minutes! File

FreeBSD and Winbind
I'm hoping this is an easy question, but the way my day has gone I seriously doubt it is going to be. Today, I installed Samba 3.0.24 with winbind support on my FreeBSD 6.2 server. I am able to join my domain and get information concerning groups and passwords from the domain controller (Windows 2003) without any problem. Where I have run into a problem is using getent to get a copy of the

Documented format of smbusers file??
The samba.org documentation page does not provide a man page for the possible formats for the smbusers file. I am fighting with samba->Active Directory and mapping AD users to Unix logins. The AD guy says credentials can be either: <Domain NetbiosName>/<lanid> or <lanid>@<Domain FQDN> BUT, I seem to be having luck (with some help from the log files) using:
