PHP 5.3: IUS vs CentOS repos
I need to upgrade PHP because the latest WordPress requires one at least at
5.2.4. What are the tradeoffs of using the php53 packages provided by
CentOS versus IUS? I've seen that installing the RHEL-derived php53
requires removing php first and it creates package conflicts because it
doesn't provide a virtual php-common package. That suggests I should
install the IUS package. Is

Pre-packaged Python 2.7 for 32-bit CentOS 6?
Either this doesn?t exist or my Google-foo is failing me this morning. I keep coming across the Software Collections Repository (http://wiki.centos.org/AdditionalResources/Repositories/SCL), but that is for 64-bit only.
Before I attempt to create Python-2.7 RPMs for 32-bit CentOS 6 to install into /usr/local or /opt/python-2.7, I wonder if someone else has done this so I don?t have to re-invent

3rd party repositories
Can anyone comment on the use of 3rd party repos for newer versions of
software like php, python and mysql? Two I am aware of are puias and ius.
Is one preferable to the other? Can their packages be installed in parallel
to and without interfering with base packages?

PHP version not enough for developers
Hi,
So, it seems that the current version of PHP in Centos 7 is PHP 5.4.16
however this version of PHP stopped getting security support from the PHP
people one month ago [1].
Now, our developers want to use the new and shiny PHP because they want to
use the latest version of Zend. They are proposing using this package [2]
but I never heard of this repo.
Other than building the packages

Hey all,
I'm attempting to build a spec file of php 5.6.7 - the latest stable -

Hi,
I managed to compile 4.10.0 under CentOS 7.6. I did the following:

- install yum-utils: sudo yum install yum-utils
- add the IUS package repository: sudo yum install https://centos7.iuscommunity.org/ius-release.rpm
- update the yum package repository cache again: sudo yum makecache
- install Python 3.6 including PIP: sudo yum

PHP and PHP53
Greetings,
We have someone requesting the use of Wordpress 3.3.1. It requires PHP 5.2
minimum.
Currently, our machine is running CentOS 5.7.
What are the issues/concerns in upgrading from PHP 5.1 (the current PHP
rpms) to PHP53?
Much thanks,
Max Pyziur

Newer Rsyslog than in distro
Hello,
I am just starting work on a project that is going to require a recent
(ie version 4 or 5) rsyslog. The distro has 2.0. KB - I think you
have a 3.x kicking about, but it's not on cko - any idea how much work
it would be to adapt your spec to version 4 or 5?
Rawhide seems to have a 4.x package, so I could start from there if
there's no other options available.

CentOS 5.5 php configure errors
I am attempting to install odbtp on my newly created lamp server running
CentOS 5.5 and php 5.2.17. The odbtp compile failed looking for lots of
zend related files supposedly in the php install dir. I learned from the
odbtp project forum that I need to run configure in the php source
directory.
So I downloaded the php 5.2.17 source and ran ./configure and got these
results:

how to push the bounds and get newer packages for centos 5.4?
i've just started looking after a (virtual) centos 5.4 server that's
hosted at rackspace and, unsurprisingly, it was set up with all the
standard defaults. part of the work i'll be doing involves php and,
as i read it, the standard php version with centos 5.4 is php-5.1.
if i *wanted* to move up to a more recent version (say, php-5.3),
obviously, i'd need to go outside the

Upgrading PHP and PHP53 on CentOS5 - Progress/Problem w/ Squirrelmail
Greetings
In the attempt to upgrade the technology stack on CentOS 5 from stock PHP
to PHP53 I have made some progress.
Much thanks to all respondents, especially Jesus.
One repository that provides a complete set of builds and seems to fulfill
both PHP and PHP53 requirements is the IUS one:

The delays on CentOS 5.6 are causing EPEL incompatibilities
There are significant components of the upstream 5.6 release which are
stuck behind the CentOS 5.6 release process, but are now incorporated
in EPEL 5 components. In particular, the "php53" package is now
necessary for the "drupal6" EPEL components, due to the long out of
date PHP 5.1 in the default upstream vendor's codebase.
I see that some of these components are
