doc: TipsAndTricks/ApacheVhost[Dir,Default]
Has there been sufficient discussion about these pages? Am I able to rename them to move them from my directory to the TipsAndTricks directory? Or should they go to HowTos? -------------------- Ed Heron

document proposal: TipsAndTricks/ApacheVHostDir
I use named virtual hosts on my web servers, as I'm sure many others do. I'm used to the method of using a vhost directory for the container files. I didn't find documentation for it in the CentOS docs or the Apache docs. I'm not sure if I should take it as a hint that it is depreciated... If I've missed something, please point me to it. I've written a quick

TipsAndTricks/ApacheVhostDir re-org
After much ruminating about Russ's suggestions, including his addition of a second example vhost conf file, I've made some additional changes. I've added a single level contents section to give readers an idea of what's in the document, since it is getting a little large for a Tips article. I've integrated the 2 example sections. I've placed the vhost.d/ section

I'd like to contribute two wiki articles
Hi, I've written two small howtos, and would like to contribute them to the CentOS Wiki. The first one is "How to install CentOS 5 on software partitionable mdadm RAID1", and the second one "How to repair a software mdadm RAID5 with two or more failed disks (if you know that information is still on the disks and readable)". I think that the first one should be somewhere

Samba Docs
I posted this to the CentOS list and was advised to post here so here goes ... I've looked at the CentOS docs-list as well as the Wiki as I was interested in Samba. On one CentOS box I've got 3.0.32 (the latest bug-fixed version from Samba.org) and on another I've got 3.0.28 (the latest from upstream). The docs look almost the same and the docs refer to security = share. However

"TipsAndTricks/ApacheVhostDir" changes for virtual host source files
I see someone has noticed my lack of suggestions or recommendations for placement of virtual host source files... Since there are many places to put virtual host source files, I had intentionally avoided the discussion due to the complexities and to keep the document restricted to a single topic. I had planned to create a separate document devoted to the discussion. Specifically, there

Encrypted partition short howto
I've written a short howto on creating and mounting an encrypted filesystem using dm-crypt. The doc currently lives on our internal wiki (Trac) at work, but I'd love to rewrite and post for a general readership. I suppose the proposed URL would be something like http://wiki.centos.org/TipsAndTricks/EncryptedFilesystem -- Paul Heinlein <> heinlein at madboa.com <>

Mounting cifs shares by non-root users on CentOS 4.6
I'm trying to set up mounting of a Windows share for non-root users via /etc/fstab on a CentOS 4.6 box - I've followed the instructions at: <http://wiki.centos.org/TipsAndTricks/WindowsShares> Using something like the /etc/fstab example given in the wiki page (with, of course, using a valid share, username and password for my set up): //winbox/getme /mnt/win cifs

Cannot open file in NTFS filesystem on Ubuntu Hardy Heron
I am trying to run an old version of Family Tree Maker for Windows. I got it working on Ubuntu Gutsy Gibbon, but when I switched to Hard Heron it stopped working. Specifically when I use the file open dialog to select the database to open I am able to navigate through the Unix directory tree down to the file, but when I request the application to open the selected file I get an error message
