new RAID5 array: 3x500GB with XFS
Hello all,
I have yesterday after some typos, sent my ext3 RAID5 array to the
void...
I want to recreate it now, but I read on
http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/Disk_Optimization
that you can optimize the filesystem on top of the RAID.
Will this wiki article be exactly the same for XFS?
Is it worth the trouble to also create an LVM volume on the RAID array?

Coert

Calculating stride values?
All,
I have a question about calculating the value for the -E stride option
to mke2fs.
The mke2fs man page says
stride=stripe-size
Configure the filesystem for a RAID array with stripe-size filesystem blocks per stripe.
So stride = size of stripe/blocksize.
The size of a stripe is the RAID chunk size * the number of drives in the RAID.
My question: are parity disks

Audio quality
I'm a new Asterisk user. I've managed to set it up to do everything I
want except sound good. Currently, Asterisk sounds considerably worse
than my cell phone. I know VOIP can be _better_ than my cell phone,
because I've heard Skype do it. (Using 32k iLBC, I believe.)
I did an experiment with audio quality:
1) I made a recording which was pretty good. I used an iSight

Disk space and RAM requirements in docs
Hi,
Have anybody recently built LLVM in Debug mode /within/ space
requirements from the Getting Started doc?
https://llvm.org/docs/GettingStarted.html#hardware
> An LLVM-only build will need about 1-3 GB of space. A full build of
LLVM and Clang will need around 15-20 GB of disk space.
From my experience this numbers looks drastically low. On FreeBSD my
recent builds consumed more than

smbd process grows to 25Mb resident size
Hi,
I've 4 Samba servers running 3.0.21c in solaris 10 zones. One PDC,
3 BDCs.
The machines are identically installed and the samba binaries and
associated libraries
are copied between the machines so are also identical.
On my PDC which seems to be accepting almost all of the clients, my smbd
processes
are 33M with 25M resident. This seems to be used by dev:32,0 ino301938

Regression in wideband encoding quality between b1 and rc1
Hello,
To start with, thanks a lot for making such a great voice codec available!
Having recently upgrading to speex rc1, It occurred to us that there
seems to have been a regression in the quality of encoding since
version beta1.
We are compressing some 22khz wave files in wb mode with maximum
quality / complexity in VBR, and the result was really great with
speex beta1. With rc1 (or beta3),

Anyone knows how microsoft AEC can deal with mismatches between clocks of capture and render streams?

[PATCH net-next v5 0/5] vsock/virtio: optimizations to increase the throughput
This series tries to increase the throughput of virtio-vsock with slight
changes.
While I was testing the v2 of this series I discovered an huge use of memory,
so I added patch 1 to mitigate this issue. I put it in this series in order
to better track the performance trends.
v5:
- rebased all patches on net-next
- added Stefan's R-b and Michael's A-b

Typo in HowTos/RebuildSRPM
Dear all,
The title of the last section on "HowTos/RebuildSRPM" probably should read:
Install the SRPM and then Build the Specfile
instead of:
Install the RPM and then Build the Specfile
Since the content of that section is about installing staff from a SRPM.

Typo in "HowTos/PXE/Gparted_PXE"
Dear all,
Inside the "HowTos/PXE/Gparted_PXE" wiki document, the "tftproot"
directory should be "tftpboot", and the hyphens could be removed in the
following line:
Add the following lines to the pxelinux-configuration-file
(/tftproot/pxelinux.cfg/default by default)

Fix typo to CentosPackager page in HowTos section
Hi,
Current page[0] contain a typo under "Generating your user
certificate" section. If you check Usage of centos-cert tool it
mention
" -n, --new-cert Generate a new Fedora Certificate" instead "
-n, --new-cert Generate a new CentOS Certificate". It would be
nice if someone fix that typo or provide me edit permission to do so.

Fix typo to CentosPackager page in HowTos section
Hi,
I don't know what your email refers to.
My problem is that Centos doesn't run when it has installed and so, having tried several times, I installed and tried Zorrin and then Ubuntu. Both these OS worked well and I'm now using Ubuntu.
Is there any way to get Centos to run?
I'd be interested.
Thanks,
Bob
