Typo on "TipsAndTricks/VncHeadlessInstall" wiki page
Dear all,
On the "TipsAndTricks/VncHeadlessInstall" wiki page, the first sentence
under "Download ISO" section should be changed from:
The first thing you will need is once if the ISO's from the CentOS
mirrors.
to:
The first thing you will need is one of the ISO's from the CentOS
mirrors.

(Apologies for the potential duplicate post. My initial post had a
smashed subject line. This post only adds the subject and this note.)
I would like permission to edit this page. The changes I have in mind are:
1) It is not necessary to burn a CD/DVD to do a "headless" install in
cases where the installed system has a monitor, but for some reason

update of rpm directory
Hi! I have an directory full with rpms that are installed on some
machines.. what is the best way to update those rpms to the latest
version? are there more optimal approaches then searching for each rpm
names in an update repo and download one by one?
Thanks,
Adrian

Install via VNC
This sounds very interesting:
http://wiki.centos.org/TipsAndTricks/VncHeadlessInstall
It would get me around my limitations on the screen on the OQO. And the
instructions read rather well.
Only thing I don't know how to do is have vncviewer in 'listen' mode.

Adding to CreateLocalRepos wiki page
Hi. I want to make a small update to the CreateLocalRepos how-to page. My
account username is AndresMejia.
The update are just small notes on creating a local repo of just the
packages which are already installed on a system. This is useful when you
maintain systems which are in their own isolated network.

vncviwer in listen mode poer number
I am working on the Centos wiki instructions for doing an install via vnc:
http://wiki.centos.org/TipsAndTricks/VncHeadlessInstall
CD is all burned and ready to go. I then thought about the viewer
settings particularly the port number and firewall rules.
When I connect vncviewer to a vncserver it uses port(s) 590n where n is
the display number. OK, is that what happens when a server connects

ZFS core contributor nominations
The time has come to review the current Contributor and Core contributor
grants for ZFS. Since all of the ZFS core contributors grants are set
to expire on 02-24-2009 we need to renew the members that are still
contributing at core contributor levels. We should also add some new
members to both Contributor and Core contributor levels.

Ellipse 750 USBS auto shutdown and NUT.
Hello,
I've installed & configured NUT 2.0.4 connected over a serial port to an MGE
USBS 750.
When the UPS enters the 'critical' state (ie, battery load below the defined
battery.charge.low AND power input off), the UPS just shutdown itself
instead of notifying NUT.
When I say the UPS just shutdown, I mean it autonomously shut down itself
within one second after reaching the

Violin plot for discrete variables.
Dear Rgurus,
To my knowledge the best way to visualize the distribution of a discrete
variable X is
plot(table(X))
The problem which I have is the following. I have to discrete variables
X and Y which distribution I would like to compare. To overlay the
distribution of Y with lines(table(Y)) gives not satisfying results.
This is the same in case of using density or histogram.
Hence, I am

chan_capi: suppress calling number on outbound dialing?
Hi,
I just wonder, if it is possible, to suppress my own number on outbound
dials with chan_capi. I took a look into the sources and think it might
work with toggeling the "@" in front of the outbound msn in the
dialstring. (Dial(CAPI/@msn... vs. Dial(CAPI/msn...
But it doesn't work. Maybee I'm wrong and misunderstood the code.
Thanks for any answers!

Is there a way to represent the ... argument in signature?
Hi!
I guess that it cant work. but maybee I am wrong.
I would like to define a function rbind.
> rbind
function (..., deparse.level = 1)
{
which works only for objects of class Myclass
Is it possible to use something like
setMethod("rbind",signature(...="Myclass",deparse.level="numeric")
This gives an error.
Or should I use
rbind.Myclass

biplot breakdown help
Hi,
I am trying to understand how the biplot.prcomp is constructed so I can
manipulate it to emphasise particular observations and reduce the number of
variables shown.
The prcomp model I have ran has cor=TRUE and scale=TRUE
I have worked out from looking at str(prcomp.model) that...
prcomp.model$x = the observations ploted in the biplot
prcomp.model$rotation = the variables that form the

how lambda is computed in smoot.spline given _df_
Hi,
I posted some days ago a question concerning the computation of lambda in the smooth.spline function (which I repreat at the bottom of the mail) given _df_ .
Unfortunately the documentation is not clear to me. Maybee someone can help to answer in my view the basic question:
If the penalized log likelihood is L = (y - f)' W (y - f) + lambda c' Sigma c
how the _lambda_ in the above

That does seem clearer. ‘trans’ is definitely good with me.
