questions regarding the svmpath package (functions svmpath and predict)
Hello,
I have two questions.
The svmpath package provides a svmpath function:
---
fit <- svmpath(xtrain, ytrain, kernel.function = radial.kernel, param.kernel = 0.8)
---
1) How to get the optimal lambda value out of this result?
The svmpath package also provides a predict function:
---
ytest <- predict(fit, xtest)
---
How to get a score (or a probability of belonging to one of the two

list of features from svmpath?
How can I get the list of non-zero features from svmpath at any given
lambda? All I get is following information and information about what
features were selected. In Iris example, we have 4 features and 60 cases. In
my own example which is 200cases by 300 features, I can't figure out how to
print the list of non-zero (beta) or features from svmpath.
Any help? Thanks.

Converting dataframe to matrix
Hi,
I'm experimenting with a few learners that require a matrix as their
input. (Currently svmpath, vbmp, etc.)
I currently have a dataframe with 50 columns and 20,000 rows.
I tried using:
x <- as.matrix(my_data.frame)
If I then as, "is.matrix(x)", I get TRUE.
However everywhere I've tried to use the matrix returns errors.
Is there a step I'm missing?
Thanks!

Re: Exclude ActiveRecord in Rails3
What''s the best way to exclude ActiveRecord in Rails3?
In Rails2, one could just do:
*config.frameworks -= [ :active_record ]*
in the configuration block in environment.rb. Is it possible in Rails3?
Thanks.

Of course SVM is for supervise learning method (classification or regression). You cannot use a boat to fly man !

Trouble developing Rails plugins/gems with generators
Hi,
I''ve been trying to develop a Rails gem/plugin with generators for
Rails 3. I first had a separate gem project with a gem statement in my
Gemfile with a :path option to point at it. But then I had to run $
rake install on each change in my gem to have Rails pick up on it. I
have now instead put my generators inside RAILS_ROOT/lib so they are
easier to test/develop.

[threadsafe] Arel ToSql visitor is not threadsafe
Hey,
We hit a bug today because Arel::Visitors::ToSql is not threadsafe.
Here is what is happening:
Arel::Visitors::ENGINE_VISITORS is a cache of visitors instances.
These instances are not inherently threadsafe because it contains
state ''@last_column'', ''@connection'' that is shared between threads.
The other variables ''@pool'',

List of user installed packages
Hello,
I am going to install the new version of R 2.14.1. After the
installation, I want to copy my installed packages to the new library. But
since over time I forgot which ones I installed I want to get a list of all
the packages I installed among the packages installed initially by the
R-installer. Is this possible?

I could succesfully normalise my microarray data using marrayNorm package.
However, i have not been able to get normalised red and green channel

to calculate back the red and green channel intensities after normalisation
of the data. Do I need to incorporate this formula in my R script? I am

Function to Sort and test AIC for mixed model lme?
Hi List
I'm running a series of mixed models using lme, and I wonder if there
is a way to sort them by AIC prior to testing using anova
(lme1,lme2,lme3,....lme7) other than by hand.
My current output looks like this.

Rails plugins new official maintainers
Hey guys,
This is the final list of the new maintainers of each plugin.
We need two more things to do:
First please the owners of the repos add the rest of the maintainers.
Second I will add a note on each rails/plugin mentioning this repos updates.
So from now on, if someone else is interested in helping/contributing
please send a message to the appropriate repo owner.

A "strict Arel" mode for ActiveRecord to prevent SQL injection vulnerabilities
Hello rubyonrails-core,
I’ve been looking into possible changes to ActiveRecord / Arel to make it
easier to write Rails applications that are free of SQL injection
vulnerabilities, and in particular do so in a way that makes it easy for a
code reviewer to verify that the app is safe from such bugs.
The concern:

With the ActiveRecord API as is, it’s relatively easy to write
